Have a 2001 Tiburon. When I go to stop & I either push the clutch in or put it in neutrel the car revs up to 2200 RPMs down to about 1800 then back up to 2200. It does this 7 ot 8 times before it finally settles down to the normal 800. What is causing this. The car has 86,000 miles on it & the timing belt has been changed along with all the other belts. Thanks
SOURCE: Can an Alternator Belt installation cause a timing belt problem?
I cannot see any reason for the belt to cause timing belt to jump. unless they messed up something installing belt.might wanna get a second opinion
SOURCE: Do I change water pump when having timing belt changed
I would go to auto zone and get a diagram and the timing belt and do it yourself and the water pump (no it does not have to be changed everytime the timing belt is changed but if the car has over 60,000miles then it is best to change them both) it is not that hard especially if the car is not out of time just make sure you disconnect the negative side of the battery
SOURCE: 1990 Toyota Celica GTS. Idle races too high
sound very much like a vacuum leak.... also maybe your timing is off? possibly advanced? try retarding it with the distributor if thats the case...
SOURCE: At how many miles should I change timing belt on my '99 Elantra
should be every 50 000 miles
SOURCE: Engine revs up to 3000-4000 rpm all by itself
THERE IS A TEMPERATURE SENSOR ON MOTOR WHICH CAUSES THIS PROBLEM... USUALLY IT SHOWS A NEGATIVE TEMP READING WHICH CONFUSES THE COMPUTER CAUSING IT TO REV UP....HAVE THE ENGINE DIAGNOSED ON A SCANNER....GOOD LUCK...
Hello
The engine
and transmission in this cars drivetrain are fully
electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train
Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer
stores a record of the problem in the form of a fault code in its
memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory
scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then
must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve
the problem(s)
