I think your power steering pressure hose burst or is leaking.

Could be leaking some other place in the power steering, but you heard a pressure release it must have been the high pressure line. Obviously, there is a leak since its hard to steer. You should check your power steering lines to see where your leak is.

I would try a new belt first. If the belt it is old it could be slick and slipping or loose which would cause problems with the steering pump..

bad seal/ bearing on the power steering pump or p/s gearbox. could also be a bad hose or resevoir.

• Check the steering fluid maybe you need to add some and also check the hose make sure there are no leaks and if the noise still there after you add a steering fluid visit a mechanic and check the hydraulic of the steering wheel.
