04 diesel toyota landcruiser, no power when I accelerate. only revs to about 1500rpm. diesel and filters clean.

well it runs,,,,,
low power on a diesel is
1: low compression
2: bad fueling
#2 can take forever to find, if you dont know what engine it is or what fuel system was used.. no country stated, so cant guess
read the wiki on land cruiser and see what you have.
we dont know.

series 80?
series 100,200 ??? what?

one of those last 4? engines?
once there, we try to find out how it works. each varies.
can fix engines with out knowing exactly what it is, and the injection system, used.

Landcruiser early 80 turbo diesel wont start

Presuming it is swinging (starter turning engine) and the glow plugs are working well and diesel is clean, the other alternatives are a drop in fuel pressure through the injectors which is necessary to ignite the diesel, or engine compression. If the compression is too low the diesel will not ignite. Test the injectors and compression across al cylinders. Being a turbo the compression si already lowered and the slightest drop will have an effect. Happy hunting.

100 series toyota landcruiser diesel 1hz, engine surging at light throttle and cruising at approx. 60kph. Blows a puff of black smoke from exhaust occasionally.

Landcruiser 100 vx, 2003 model with engine number 1HD-FTE is not starting, I've found out that the fuel pump, starter, battery are all functioning well. Where next should I look at.

Track down Toyota publication RM184E - a search of the ih8mud forums is a good start to finding it.

95 Landcruiser Turbo warning light comes on under heavy load

If you are "lugging" the engine, you will get increased exhaust temperature (EGT), this will trigger your "turbo" light(not a good thing), ideally you should have an aftermarket "pyrometer" fitted to your car, this will show you the optimum revs etc you should be using in any given circumstance.Or revise your driving technique, ie change down gears earlier.
The turbo should be idled down after long trips or heavy towing, this allows the oil temps to stabilise and turbine speeds to stabilise, thus idle for 2-5 minutes.
