float and sending unit in fuel tank has gone bad or stuck..you may have just overfilled the tank. Wait and see if it corrects itself., or You will have to replace pump float and sending unit..as it all is one complete unit. It is located inside the fuel tank and you will have to have the tank drained, removed to gain access to the pump float sending unit. check your gauge fuses also
Fuel Pump ModuleRemoval & InstallationTo Remove: WARNING Highly flammable mixtures are always present in any fuel related component. Smoking or carrying lighted tobacco or an open flame of any type may ignite the flammable mixtures. WARNING Even when the engine is not running, fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure. Fuel system pressure must be relieved before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines, fuel tubes, or fuel system components. Failure to do so may result in accidental spraying of fuel, personal injury, or a fire hazard.
That and place a rag under the fuel line while slowly disconnect it. CLEAN ANY SPILLS BEFORE CONTINUE TO WORK ON THE FUEL PUMP.

that sounds like it could be a fuel pump. have someone turn on the key but not start the truck while you listen by the tank for a humming sound. IT will only last a second or two. If you dont hear anything then your pump is bad. The filter could be clogged also. before tearing off your gas tank replace the fuel filter, which you would do if you replaced the pump anyway.
remove the cover from your computer under the hood and check all the fuses.
