It will not correct fan speeds, you have other problems, perhaps heater core is partially blocked not allowing air to pass over fins. Look at blower motor resistors or high sped relay. good Luck.
Hi, check fuse 12 first. If it is good, you will need to replace the blower resistor. The high speed relay is built into the resistor. The resistor is next to the blower motor and looks like the picture below. There is a connector in the resistor and the 2-wire connector coming out of the resistor attaches to the blower. The blower is usually under the dash above the passenger's feet. You may have to remove a kick panel to see the motor and resistor. If there is air moving through the vents most likely the final stage transistor(blower resistor) has failed. It controls blower speed from a signal from the ihka (a/c control panel). the final stage receives the signal from the ihka of the drivers preference blower speed. the final stage pwm (pulse width modulates) the blower motor. which means it turns it off and on very quickly to speed up or slow down the blower motor speed. It isn't the easiest part to replace. Usually at a dealership i would expect to pay somewhere around $600 (including diagnosis)but don't hold me to it. bmw dealerships stand behind their repairs and usually include a warranty with the part of 2 years unlimited mileage.
No the motor is not bad or going bad, the heater blower motor resister is bad, thats regulates the blower speeds, its located under dash by heater motor 2 screws hold in heater box with a electrical plug to it.
