My 2003 CTS would not start on the first, second or third try after filling the gas tank. Finally after several months of this occuring every two weeks a check engine light came on. It was the evac purge valve. Tom

My 2006 Cadillac CTS starts sometime and doesn’t. I put new battery in it . And it still does it. Push button start. What could the problem be?

Could be any number of thing's . Knowing how the starter system works an being able to test the electrical & electronic's that control the starter circuit is how to find the problem . Push button start ??? Is it factory or add on ? Anti-theft light flashing ????
Circuit Description
Moving the ignition switch to the START position sends a 12-volt signal to the engine control module (ECM) to command starting. Battery voltage also travels through the switch side of the Run/Crank relay then through the clutch switch, if equipped with manual transmission, and on through the coil side of the Starter relay and then to the ECM. The ECM receives class 2 information from the vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) and transmission control module (TCM) to verify that all parameters are met for starting. When all parameters are met the ECM grounds the control circuit of the Starter relay closing the switch providing battery voltage to the starter solenoid through a 30 A Maxi-Fuse.

Are the battery cables good ? Battery connections ???

WHERE IS THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH ON A 2006 CADILLAC CTS

Make sure thats the problem before replacing a part you don't need .

It's not called a neutral safety switch .

I gotta 2005 cadillac cts and when I try to start

have a load test done on the battery as the readings mat be fully charged but if there is a bad cell then the moment that you engage the starter the voltage drops to below 6 volts. Ensure that the battery posts and terminals are shiny clean.

2003 cts wont start. i jumped the starter and won't turn over. Battery says 11.9 volts could it be the battery or starter?

Battery voltage is definitely and issue. Charge your battery and have it tested before condemning the starter.

Battery tests at 12 volts but won't start but starts with jumper cables to other car

battery should be showing 12,45 - 12.6 volts when car is standing still. also batteries getting old colects sulphate on plates ,this degrades the cold start performance. you can see that cranking amperage on stickers of batteries. for example 90 amperes 750 cca battery is required for my car but les wont crack it even it is 90 amperes but 640 cca. mainly lead acid or dry type batteries needs to be charged more than %40 of its capacity. 12 volts is only the ~%25 of its capacity and it seems yours is dead already.

2003 Cadillac CTS shuts off at red light.

Sounds like your alternator is not charging your battery. Probably a loose wire, battery cables, alternator wires, or possibly a bad alternator. Check all the wire connections. Check for a loose or bad alternator belt and have the alternator and battery tested.
