Idle problems 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8

The idle drops to zero when coming to stop. Then goes back to 750 where it should be. Been chasing the problem 2 weeks. When starting sometimes strats then dies imediatly. Wait next day starts up and runs but not very good. Tightened all nut and vacum hoses, chanded PVC and CCV filters. Changed gas filter too. The car idles really quiet and feels like it will stall but keep running at lower idle. Checked spark plugs and wires etc everything looks normal. Maybe some type of sensor perhapsJust wondering if any body has had this problem.

There are several possibilites.
When it dies does the Engine Light come-on and stay-on? If so there are codes which are present that can isolate/point you to a more specific problem.
Based soley on your description: I would first check your Spark Plugs, Wires, and Coil. When were they last replaced? If these are fine: When was the Fuel Filter replaced? Air Filter? Check the fuel pressure at the port located on the fuel rail in the engine compartment.
If those check out okay: I would check and/or replace the Idle Sensor and/or the Throttle Position Sensor.
Basic rules on bad idling:
1. Fuel - is there enough getting to the cylinders?
2. Spark - Is there consistent spark getting to all the cyclinders?
3. Air - Is there a air shortage = clogged air filter?

I have a '93 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.2 v8.

Disconnecting your battery, as you must've done when changing the starter, will cause the ecu to revert to factory settings and the computer will have to relearn the proper idle for your jeep.

Oil gauge may be bad, you said you changed the oil sending unit, and tried a aftermarket which worked, so the other option is to have you oil gauge checked. The sending unit may be good but you gauge is not reading proper.

2000 jeep grand V8 low idle then dies

A faulty gas cap can cause the sensor to come on.
Clean out the throttle body with a cleaner and see if the idle improves.
