Purchase a new fuel filter and a can of starter fluid. Replace the fuel filter. Take the can of starter fluid and spray into the intake. You can remove the air filter and have someone spray into the plenum going to the intake at the same time as you start the engine. This should get it started. Make sure you have a fully charged battery. Charge it fully if necessary.

Actually never use brake cleaner or carb cleaner it could cause more harm then good.
Trust me I own several luxury and exotic vehicles.

Same thing happened to me... it was the fuse

Turn the key so all the dash lights come on, but do not try to start, -- and listen for the fuel pump. If you hear nothing you may have blown the fuel pump fuse. --simple

its not always the fuse you have to start by ruling out the RELAY not the fuse find the relay have someone turn the ignition on do not start it and see if you feel the relay click if not it possibly can be a relay but dont rule out the wiring the grounds and the signal from the ECM

Click the key to the on position (right before where you click to start the vehicle) and leave it for bout 3 sec. Then switch it to off. Repeat three times, then try to start.
If you have a diesel engine then you will need to bleed the air out of the system in order to start the vehicle.

If the only reason is it ran out of gas then most likely the fuel pump overheated and lost its ability to prime.

This is a very common problem when one runs out of gas. Alot of times you may have an injector that fails also.

You could try to get it started with some quick start or brake cleaner. It may start and stay running but usually you will need to replace the pump soon or else you could end up stranded.
