I have a 2001 C 270 CDI. Recently the turbo is failing to "kick in" when I accelerate and the car is very "flat". It's a sporadic problem, it sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't. It's now happened 3 times since Sunday. Sometimes I switch off the car and restart and the problem disappears, but not this morning.

SOURCE: when accelerating there is no

Hi, this is a common symptom of a clogged fuel filter that is straining the fuel pump itself.

When you accelerate, this initiates a rapid fuel flow through the lines. if the filter cant pass the proper amount, its will stall or hesitate the engine and cause sputtering or loss of power. due to this clogged filter, the pump cant keep up with your acceleration demands at this time. the reason for the power pick up upon De acceleration, is because the lower amount of fuel is able to pass through quite easily but, as soon as you demand more power, the clog will obstruct the more intense flow of fuel to the injectors.

Simply replacing the fuel filter and pump will fix this issue.

Please rate and god bless:)

SOURCE: front diff gone, car making clunking noise on acceleration

go to an empty parking lot

turn the wheel all the way to the right and drive in circle slowly

listen for a ticking noise or similar.

repeat in the left direction.

if you hear a ticking or clicking noise you likely have a bad CV joint. not a horridly expensive repair tho a necessary one

one other thing that will cause it is if the rubber boot surrounding the CV
joint is torn.

pleae take a moment to rate this solution.

I had the same problem on a 2002 c270 cdi. Turned out to be a leakink vacuum hose. The brakes also makes use of the same vacuum pump as well as the turbo boost actuator.
After refitting and Tightning with Cabell tie my problem was solved.
Full boost full power.

2006 Jetta TDI, TURBO Problems

the turbo is a variable vane type where the vanes in the exhaust shell around the turbine are moved to give maximum gas flow at low engine rpm
these vanes rust in the housing and do not move easily when the actuator is energized by the vacuum solenoid
the vacuum hose goes hard and cracks , actuators suffer from wiring problems
basically check that the rad that controls the vanes is free moving and that the hoses and wires are in good condition

Hello.I got my Volvo s40 2002.Its suppost to have a turbo build-in.But I cannot feel the difference, basically when is turbo starts working? Thanks!

The S 40 came with different size and spec engines and they were not all Turbo charged versions. The choice of engines available depends on which country you are in.

The turbocharger is driven by the engine's exhaust system and runs continuously but has minimal affect at low engine RPM. Unless the turbo has failed, you should feel the turbo effect kick in when you accelerate hard but there will be a brief lag .

If you have the turbo engine fitted to your 2002 model S40 you will have a " 1.9T " badge on the rear of your car under the S40 badge. The "T" designates Turbo. An engine designator badge without a "T" indicates it is not turbocharged.

The turbochargers on these S40 models will fail (especially if the car has done a lot of miles) so you should have your car examined if you feel the turbo is not functioning.

Turbo works on the engine from the moment you start it. It does not kick in as people use to say. Loss of power and acceleration is caused by many different things, get diagnostics done and you will know exactly.
