Temperature Guage reads HOT 1 minute after startup and stays there, but engine is not overheated.

You should be able to find out the OHM range is supposed to be of the temperature sensor. With an OHM meter check and make sure the sensor is within the designated range. If it is, then it is probably a problem with your ECU interpreting the signal from the sensor and thinking the car is hotter than it is. I would also check with an infrared pyometer to make sure that the engine is not too hot.

is your radiator fan running? The temperature going up like that is super dangerous for your engine. Given that you are getting "smoke or steam from the bottom of the engine" I think you are running hot, and blowing out coolant. The hope for solution is that the radiator fan isn't running, you can straight wire it to test if it runs. If it doesn't, get a new one asap. Don't drive this car until you can figure it out, or you will need a new engine... think $3000 or more

My temperature guage stays in the middle, is this ok?

Yes, the temperature gauge should normally stop in the middle, between the cold and hot points on the gauge. When the engine is cold the thermostat will be closed and will keep recirculating the coolant in the engine block until it warms up sufficiently. Then the temperature of the warm coolant will cause the thermostat to open the channel to the radiator to get rid of excess heat, which should stop the coolant from over heating. So the effect of the thermostat keeps the coolant at a fairly stable temperature. When the coolant runs low, it can't transfer enough heat to the radiator and the coolant and engine then over heats. Watch for radiator leaks under your car after you have been driving it. If the coolant goes low again fairly quickly you could have a leak in a hose or the radiator itself.

Rough idling

Change your thermostat,The car is probaly over heating. You keep on driveing it when it does that. You will do serious damage to your engine. Is the check engine light on? Allso any other warniing light. While the car is in operation. Is there guages in the car? If there is keep a eye on your temperture gage if it is going into the hot zone, If it is your vehicle is over heating.

Check engine light comes on and then the temperature gauge goes up to hot

Mine did it too.... The problem is the Engine Power Relay.

The Engine Power Relay is in the relay box in the engine compartment. Aftermarket relay is cheap, but the original Ssangyong part will last many years longer.

Hope this helps.

The oil light comes on at times and goes off as the rpms go up. What can be done about the light?

Maybe your engine is idling too slowly, If the revs are below say 700rpm the low pressure warning light could come on especially when the engine is hot.. If the idle speed is ok try a heavier grade of oil in the engine. Next try a new oil pressure sensor. It's got to be one of these things. Check the engine running temperature . An over-hot engine will cause the oil light to come on too.

check your oil and coolant level to be on the safe side but it sounds like everything is normal if there is no airflow across the radiator the fan will operate when the engine gets hot even with the engine off
