I have read through many posts on blower motor issues but no one had the same issue I have. ... If I shut the truck off, it still won't shut off and runs until the battery is dead.... 2002 GMC Sierra RCLB 1500 4X4 SLE, 7 1/2' Fisher plow.
changing the blower motor was a waste of time and money, you have power going to the blower after the switch (button) is turned off, could be a bad switch
replace the blower motor module located under the dash on the passenger side near the blower motor. The module has a constant power supply to the high side relay. if the relay sticks the blower stays on all the time. Replacing the module is the usual fix.
There is a bulletin for this fix.The bulletin number is 05-01-39-001A.This pertains to the blower motor staying on after key is shut off. What you will have to do is replace the blower motor resistor module and install a capacitor in the wiring.Part number is 25073556 for the capacitor. The blower motor is on the right side under the dash.Just remove the insulator panel and you should be able to see it if you look up into the dash.Or turn it on and listen for the blower motor.Disconnect the connector to the blower motor control module.Find cavity a and c.Cavity a is negative and cavity c is positive.C is red and A is black.Splice the positive lead of the capacitor to the red wire and the negative to the black wire. You should use splice sleeves and solder the wire on.Hope this helps.Good luck.
Seems like you have an important short circuit. Blower is supposed to be cut off when car is shut down. I have seen blower switches melt, from excessive use of high speed blower, shorting the contacts, and staying on permanently.
Dis you chanfe the blower motor speed controller? It is mounted right near the blower motor itself.... attached to the blower motor via a electric cable.... held in place in it's mounting by 2 screws into the heater AC case
