SOURCE: need to know to replace themostat in 2004

Drain the radiator, follow the top radiator hose to the engine, it is connected to the thermostat housing. Loosen and remove the two bolts, lift the housing and remove thermostat, make sure the new thermostat goes back in the exact same way, tighten bolts, make sure pepcock is closed on radiator, refill radiator, start engine, run heater on full blast, add coolant as needed.

Locate themostat on a 2001 chryster interpid

On a 2001 Dodge Intrepid with the 2.7 engine the thermostat is under the lower radiator hose water outlet.
You really need a repair manual to get all of the needed instructions to replace it.

Car keep running hot I put new themostat

replace the temperature sensor (should be located on the intake, usually on the driver side). If the sensor is bad, then the reading will be wrong - as long as you dont' hear the boiling, or see steam coming from the radiator, or anywhere else, you'll be fine. However, I suggest also checking both top and bottom radiator hoses, heater core hoses. Also, make sure your air filter is clean.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Replace thermostat

Follow your "top"radiator to where connects with the engine. The themostat housing is right there. Two screws usually hold it down. They may be metric, either 10mm. or 12mm. or they are American 1/2 inch. Remove them and make sure that you don't lose the large o-ring that seals the housing.I dont think it has a gasket, most are o-rings nowadays which makes thing much simpler. Remove the old thermostat with a long thin screwdriver. And place the new one (very important) with the "A" shape facing upward. Then replace the housing making sure to screw the screws back in at an even count(go a few on one the a few on the other) till tightened. P.S. there's usually no need to remove the hose from the housing. It will swing up and away.If the thermostat stays in the hose pry it out the same way as previously discribed and put back into the engine block again with the "A" shape facing upward. Hope you do well, Thanks Dana
