Transmission over temp signal vehicle won't start.. just drove 2 hrs home and it sat for an hour when i went to go somewhere it wouldn't start
First I was told it was a battery... replaced it
Then two months later I was told it was a starter.... replaced
Another two months later I was told it was the ignition switch... replaced it yesterday...
Just walked out of a restaurant 24 hours later and the car does not want to start. The dealership seems to be inept at figuring it out, and Jeep helpline doesn't offer any help at all.
What did it end up being? Mine is doing the same thing.
For me anyways, all the same symptoms. REPLACED: First the Ignition Switch, then the Starter. When it wouldn't start again.. I took it back and told em (dealer) that if they said it was the alternator, was going to sue them for the labor and parts allready done. Must have worked. Bottom line, they said when they changed the starter it was all corroded, heavily. (orig bought in MI). So then they checked the wiring harness into the starter and found that it was melted a bit. Therefore if the starter was that corroded, it was possible it sent more amps down the line than normal. They fixed that part of the harness, and since then, no problems. Mind you I never got to see any of the parts, nor fixed it myself... but that seems to have solved me. Battery - you were ripped off. Ignition... probably ripped off. Starter? I have seen enough of these that tells me that possibly Jeep put on a substandard starter that leads to all these conditions back up the line. Anyways.. still holding breath.

Dropped mine off today at a dealership but was havin the exact same problems with my 2007 jeep commander Rocky Mountain edition. They told me it was probably the battery but I'm not convinced.
2007 Jeep Commander doesnt start but I do get a "Transmission Over Temp". battery is brand new.
Normally I would assume it would be a starter problem but I have a feeling its something elecrtical like a relay or wire or something.
I am so frustrated.. Mine has broke down 4 times in one month.. My jeep has a whole 40,000 miles on it... The dealer keeps telling me they have fixed it.. well its still happening. They changed a selanoid plate in the transmission.. It was ok for a 2 week span then it happended again... In shop now they have no clue what is causing it..
