Both headlight went out at the same time. When I pull the turn signal lever back towards me the bright lights come on but I have to hold the lever to keep them on. Replaced light switch on dash. Any suggestions?

Dear Rrides,
Check fuse number 4 in the interior box. It should have power on both sides with the low beams on.If ok,check for power at the back of the head lamp bulb. It is possible that both bulbs went at the same time. I don't think there is a ground concern because the high beam circuit uses the same grounds.
If you find power missing from the fuse, check for power at the red/black wire on the back of the multi-function switch. This is the switch that contains the turn signals and the dimmer switch. If power is missing with the low beams on,check the red/yellow wire. This is the power feed into the switch. If you have power, the multi-function switch is bad. If you are missing power, drop me a line and we can go further.
Thanks,Chuck

Look on the steering column for a lever or push the turn signal arm forward or pull it towards you. It should move easily.

2001 Dodge Ram Headlights won't work, flashers stay on always, all other lights work

Problem should be in the multifunction turn signal assymbly. It controls the headlights, and flasher.

I have a 83 monte carlo and I pull my lights on knob and all my lights come on;tail, tag, park, markers, but not my headlights....my turn signal lever( to turn on my brights) if I pull it the normal...

Don't waste your time looking for a headlamp relay. You will not find one. 1983 Monte Carlo does not use a headlamp relay. Your problem is most likely a defective headlamp dimmer switch. It is located about halfway down the upper left side of the steering column. It is secured by the same screws that mount the ignition switch. It is activated by a metal rod that pushes down on it when you pull back on your turn signal lever. It looks like the picture below.

Both Headlights went out on 98 Ford Explorer at the same time.

you drive a ford truck and the most common problem with the lights are the multi function switch (turn singnal, high/low beam wipers) you can get one of theese from a local junk yard to save money this part at the dealer will run you about $150.00.

Headlights won't turn on. they only come on if I hold the turn signal switch back (to select high beam).

I would take your steeing colum apart and check the wires that go to your switch because I believe you may have to replace the switch since the bright lights work when pulling back on the lever.

98 Explorer's Headlights won't work...have to hold highbeam on

Sounds like your switch is bad (i.e. turn signal / healight dimmer / winshield lever switch) inside the steering column. Replace as necessary.
