The slow turning of the engine indicates the battery is getting week. Gradually get so weak that only the clicking occurs. Next will be nothing at all because the battery is dead. Can be checked by turning on the lights. The battery can be dead because it was getting worn out or because the alternator was not charging it. It may not have been charging it because the alternator was bad or because the connections to the battery are corroded. Corroded connections at the starter motor should also be checked. Bad time to not have a boyfriend who understands such things. Good luck.

Engine died while driving on the freeway, now only cranks but wont turn over/

As with any no start problem, have you checked for spark at the plugs and normal fuel pressure at the injectors ?
Does it crank with normal compression ?

1989 toyota corolla quits when going down road but still turns over

As with any no start issue, you will need to find out if you are dealing with a no spark or no fuel problem to proceed.
Once you find that out you can either let us know or research it online.

TSB on 1992 toyota corolla no start trouble shooting

It sounds like a bad starter; the next time it happens, keep turning the key on and off rapidly (trying to start) 20 or 30 times and see if the engine cranks at any point.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

1996 toyota corolla died while driveing and will not start

Does it make a different sound while cranking the engine? does it sound like its cranking faster?- Timing belt is gone.

OR

If it sounds the same it will probably be a fuel pump. - Have the pressure checked to verify this.

My 97 Toyota corolla will not stay running after going through deep water. Most of the engine compartment was briefly submerge. It starts but runs rough and dies if I try put it in drive and try to...

Possible exhaust restriction.
Could be cat converter.
You can try and unhook the exhaust system and try it.
If the car will run a few minutes try a vacum guage hooked up to engine vacuum.
If you get a very low reading that would be your answer.

Car died

The steering is powered by the crank by a v-belt, so, this only works with the engine turned on. Check all the gas supply lines (and fuel pump) and the electrical power from the distributor.
