96 Chevy Silveraldo, 5.7 Vortec v8. Idles fine, but lopes during acceleration.
GM 1996-2002 V6 and V8 Vortec MPFI conversions
*if you own a Vortec truck, look close at this!*
I have the same problems but unlike the unleaded only guys I can switch to CNG also.
It happens when it shifts to overdrive, and then it goes to bucking and popping and you have to baby it or it will just pop real loud through the intake and just BOG DOWN.
Now I know I have a #7 injector clogged 100% or almost.
but you wouldnt think it would have to use that injector when i am running on the CNG. who knows.
My buddy told me that he had someone do something to a module of some sort that was hard wired into the tranny harness.
I will do more research on that and get back to you , simply because I am having the same problems now and I WANT THIS TO GO AWAY QUICKLY. I truly believe there is something to be said about going to the extreme pros on stuff like this (not dealerships most of the time, except for lexus) I mean the guys in the trenches, diagnostic nerds that pride themselves on solving puzzles, not the guys who are collecting a check.
I WILL FIGURE THIS ONE OUT.
Remember me ?
I changed my injectors like the other gentleman that provided the link shows
I bought the expensive upgraded ones from NAPA.
the non ball poppet style!!!
It is actually a GM upgrade.
My truck no longer bucks or pops IT JUST RUNS LIKE A SCALDED _ _ _ APE.
It was well worth the money.
Do the work yourself if you can wrench if not labor will be about 300+ but I bit the bullet and went with the 500 $ part not the cheaper version. I tried the cheaper version then regretted it,
Do it right the first time.
Never go cheap or used when it comes to fuel products!!
do not get a dealer to do it either because they will put on the oem ****!!

Raeally sound s as if you fuel pump pickup is clogged. this is exactly what was wrong with a 1997 tahoe. no engine codes. slow acceleratoion fine all the way to freeway speeds 70mph. but if you go full throttle truck would buck and backfire through throttle body. it is a lot of work but you must drop the tank, inspect your lines into the tank, pull the pump replace the filer and if if filter is torn make sure pump is not also clogged. good luck
I to have a 96 silverado with a 5.7 with about 110,000 miles on it that has all the same problems exactly, mine has been doing this for the last two years. Then just last spring my fuel pump went out, so i removed the bed to replace the pump and flushed the lines the best i could to make sure nothing bad was in the tank. after putting it back together, it was still running rough down the highway. I have done some research, and i'm not positive, but i believe the problems haves something to do with the fuel injector and injector valves. because i have heard their have been some problems with the injectors but now one can tell me what happens when they for sure go out. But this is what i know up to now, and hope this helps you out and good luck with your truck.

New cap, rotor, plug wires, air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs were replaced last spring. Fuel pump was replaced three years ago.
mainly full throttle. If I'm gentle on the throttle the engine will accelerate.
does it lope with full throttle , part throttle? any check engine lights?
last time tune up? plugs, cap, rotor, wires, oil change, fuel filter, air filter?
it dies while idling and driving
