1996 Dodge Avenger Security System went crazy now car won't start

The car started and ran fine... shut it off and the alarm went off (usually it was an alarm sound, but this time it was horn beeps) couldn't shut the alarm off with the remote or key in the door... disconnected the battery... reconnected the battery and now the car won't crank at all... it doesn't try to start at all... the doors lock and unlock when you try to start the car and the lights work... the alarm works, too... I'm guessing this is part of the anti-theft BS on the car... any suggestions?

I have a 1997 dodge avenger es 2.5 liter here's

Check the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for any sign of gas being sucked into the line. A failed regulator will let extra gas get into the engine. If it's okay, have the fuel pressure checked. That's sure a lot of gas, way too much for the engine. Good luck.

I have a 98 jeep grand cherokee. i went to start it the other day and the alarm started goin off and it ran for a few seconds and then died. is there a way to disconnect the alarm so it will stay running...

If you use the original key to lock & unlock it from the tailgate and then try starting it, it should reset the system. Be aware that when it this begins to happen more often, it is usually an indication of the battery getting weak & losing the onboard memory for the security memory. If you are using an aftemarket key this may continue to shut down because the security system does not recognize an uncoded key.

98 dodge avenger es 6 cyl., won't start

Is you battery going dead? How old is the battery? After 4-5 years a battery is bad and needs to be replaced.

It sounds like you didn't replace the alternator?

Do you get a click when you try to start and it wont start?

Also check the grounds on the starter they could have corroded and this would cause an non-normal starting pattern. To chech these locate them, usually close to that starter and screwed into the frame of the vehicle. Unscrew them and take a wire brush and clean them very good making sure to expose bare metal. Do the same to the frame where it is screwed into.

Make sure to unhook you battery before doing anything!

2006 sebring 4 cyl - in cold weather security alarm goes off whether i have it left unlocked - use key to unlock or fob - every morning it goes off - yesterday - when i was leaving work - went to unlock...

I know a quick fix to get it started but you might think i'm crazy to do this:

My 2003 Dodge ram van 1500 does the same thing. I put a small heater on the driver's side floor blowing the hot air toward the door.
I plug in the heater when I get home from workand let it run all night.
The computer for the alarm is under a kick plate near the driver's door next to the driver's seat on the left side. Once it warms up the alarm; it will shut off the alarm and you can start the motor.

Can anyone tell me if you have to prime the water pump in a Dodge avenger 1996. ? If so how?

water pump priming is not necessary on this vehicle. fill cooling system to proper level and start vehicle with cap off. let it run for 1 minute or so and top off. replace cap and fill resevoir to full hot mark. if vehicle starts to run too warm shut off for 1 hour and open cap and repeat procedure. hope this info helps you!
