98 dodge caravan oil leak

Have a 98 dodge caravan that suddenly sprung an oil leak. It leaks oil constantly when the van is running. Already checked the rear main seal and the valve cover gaskets and they are not the problem. Where could this leak be coming from?

Check were the oil filter screws on to the housing. Make sure the seal don't need replacing on the housing.

My van is leaking oil on drivers side way up towards front of vehicle, any idea what this leak could be from?

A common leaking area is the transmission cooling lines which run from the transmission to the rad.

Hi i have a 1994 dodge caravan it is leaking oil can this be fix im worry that we would have to save money for a van for my kids thanks

The Chrysler minivan products all had leaking problems. I have had 5 or 6 different Dodge or Plymouth minivans from 88 to 99. How bad is it. The most common thing is Valve cover leaks. Front and rear seals in the engine leak as well as the oil pan gasket. If its leaking a little bit at a time open the hood and look at the front and rear of the engine. Do you see grease and oil that has gone down the sides of the engine? Do you see a lot of grease on the engine with some clean streaks going through it. You may be able to see where its leaking from. If you know someone that knows what their doing have them change the leaky gasket/s. If not you can probably have it repaired for less than buying another van unless other things are seriously wrong with the van.
Hope this helps... Dale

Oil leak

The oil you described is called blow back, which means the oil leaking is blowing back on the bottom side of van,, Those vans are known for computor problems, Which means they need re flashed once they start like dash lites wont come on or cooling fan wont come on and van over heats,or wipers ,radio wont come on than all of a sudden they come on,,I just got rid of a nice looking 98 had same problems. Also the main bearing on yours is leaking oil, I wont buy that van.You do what you want but Dodge, cryseler, are cheap made vehecles, I just answered a 2000 van that had the reflash problem here on fixya. So look around.

98 caravan died while driving, won't start

try a can of starter fluid and spray it in the throttle body and if the car starts and runs it is the fuel pump but before you change the fuel pump find out where the fuel pump relay is these are normally under the hood on the drivers side it is a small square box the owners manual will not tell you which one it is but what I normally do in a situation like this is I go to a parts store and see if they have one in stock and count the prongs and draw out a little diagram and that will help you locate the right one for you

Heater works but defrost fills inside with fog.

your heater core has probably sprung a leak.does the fog smell kinda sweet?....check the floor in the front where the floor mats are for moisture or even puddles of antifreeze.(the replacement of a heater core can be very expensive as the entire dash usually needs to be removed to access the heater core)also look under the engine near the firewall for antifreeze drips.

No heat, rough idle then pop and smoke from coil pack 2001 caravan 3.3

YOu should be able to tell if coolant leaks caused the coil pack to fail. I believe it is 2 issues.
