Its common in those cars you need mechanic exp to do it your self its not a walk in the park,Remove center cap from wheel or remove hubcap this may require wheel removal
Have the car sitting on the ground on all wheels
Remove spindle nut from end of axle through center of wheel (it's really hard to do with the car in the air)
Jack up corner of car
Remove wheel
Remove castle nut that holds lower control arm to spindle
Remove (I think, may be 14mm) bolt that secures bottom of damper fork to lower control arm
Use mallet or hammer to break control arm free from spindle
Swing up and out of the way
Bang end of axle through back side of spindle to free it from the hub
Wrap pipe wrench jaws around axle between axle cup and tranny housing (or intermediate shaft housing, depending on transmission)
Tighten pipe wrench, but leave a bit of slack
Kick pipe wrench handle so axle pops free
Remove axle

How do you tell if a cvc joint is broken without pulling everything apart

If the CVC joint is broken, the car would not move. I assume that you are hearing unusual noises in the drivetrain. It is worthwhile to have a certified mechanic take a look at the car to determine if the CVC needs to be replaced, before serious problems develop.

How to replace cvc axel on 2000 dodge interpid

you mean cv axle ? first you loosen the wheel lugs and axle nut in center of rim,if you have alloy wheels axle nut must be removed after wheel is off. then jack the car, and place a jack stand under it. remove the lower ball joint nut and disconnect it from spindle now remove the tie rod from the spindle as well .using a hammer tap out the axle.go underneathe and with pry bar pry it out from transmission.reverse for installation

Does'nt matter bacause the cv joint and the axle are replaced as a unit anyway,cv joints are'nt replaceable by the dealer or backyard mechanic anymore.Axle assembly will solve your problem.

Cvc joint, can u move it forward or will it mess up somthing?

Hello, I as a professional would say the safest thing would be to have it towed. If the joint has not been distroyed to the point of falling apart then you could possible push it by hand if the inboard joint is bad and not the outboard joint next to the wheel. With the outboard broken there is a very strong posibility the if you tried to make a turn even by pushing the joint will just lock up completely and you will not be able to push the vehicle past that point. You also take a chance of causing additional damage to the vehicle if the assembly comes apart completely. The outboard CVC joint is more dangerous than the inboard since the outboard is in a percision location to allow turning. Good Luck, RAC

Knocking sound

my solution to you is ask some one to check out your cvc joints cause once cvc joints go bad it starts to sound like your engines knocking but its the joints that are right next to the tire on the axel get under your car and look right behind the tire if there is a rubber here's a image of what the rubber on the axel should look like if its ripped or torn or even shredded thats your problem
