Can you hear the pump come on? Check all fuses and relay first and try this Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys

SOURCE: Fuel Pump Relay Switch

Underneath your hood, behind the passenger side headlight, behind the core support, is a bank of 2-8 relays. One of those relays is the relay needed for your fuel pump. There will also be a fuel pump relay fuse located there. The relay designation should be on the cover of the relay compartment.

SOURCE: 1991 volvo turns over but wont start

If your air mass meter tests good, the I would tell you to check the HIGH PRESSURE PUMP underneath the Driver's side chassis pump holder-next to the fuel filter.

There are 2 pumps on your Volvo---the in-tank low pressure, and the chassis mounted high pressure. The car will run with the in-tank failed and the high pressure good. It will not run with the high pressure failed. Test the pump by applying voltage to the two terminals.

Another common failure, should the high pressure pump be good, is the HALL EFFECT SENSOR located in the distributor on the back of the engine. Once this sensor goes, it's no start. A rebuilt or used distributor may be the answer to your problem.

SOURCE: car wont start. turns over but wont catch.

The fuel pumpmay have failed. Try having someone turn the key to the ON position while you listen under the car near the fuel tank for the fuel pumo to hum. If it does not, or it sounds like it is grinding, then it may have failed. A pressure test with a gauge would be need to check for proper pressure.

SOURCE: fuel pump location 2001 pontiac grand am

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank.Sit in the car.....turn on the ignition switch to run.....listen very closely to the rear of the car...or have someone kneel down by the back wheel.....you should hear a "prime cycle"......the pump running for 2 or 3 seconds if the key was off for 15 seconds before trying this.If you hear silence you most likely need a fuel pump. Before pulling the tank down....check for power on the gray wire at the fuel tank connector just ahead of the rear axle under the car.Check for power with a test light that will last for 2 to 3 seconds as you turn on the key to run.Power means you really most likely need a pump.No power means you may need a fuse or a fuel pump relay.

Turns over,but wont start.

Did you check base fuel pressure with a gauge before and after replacing the pump ? Is the pump getting power from the relay ?
The fuel filter is under the car and should have been replaced with the pump.

05 ford five hundred wont turn over thinking its the fuel pump or maybe the relay

try banging on the fuel tank sometimes that could make the fuel pump work for a bit, you cant 100 percent rule out a bad fuel pump;you may have a better idea if it starts. good luck

I don't think the fuel pump is pumping. Car wont

you would have to fnd the gas line that goes to your motor disconnect and crank car to see if feul comes ,but some cars have a fuel line with a valve that you push in the little pin in the middle and should shoot out fuel looks like your aircondition line but it should be next to fuel injection line

I have a 97 blazer and i changed the fuel filter and i can hear the fuel pump turn on but it still wont stay started. i also put some fuel in the carb and it started for about 5 seconds and then it wont...

I would more likely think that the fuel pump is the problem. The regulator bring the pressure down, so the vehicle would run, just rich. Disconnect fuel feed line to see if fuel is reaching the engine. If not the pump is the problem.

Car wont start, think its the fuel pump.

It sounds like you are getting air in your fuel line. Maybe not much, yet, but air none the less. The way to check this is to disconnect the fuel line from your fuel rail and put into a large coffee can or something similar. Then have have someone crank the car and if the fuel stream is not steady your fuel pump is going bad. If this is not the problem then you could be having a vapor lock problem caused by a bad charcoal canister.
