My car is making a strange sounds and two of the pulleys shake
My car is making a strange sounds and it looks like two of the pulleys are shaking I need to know the names of the pulleys so that I can price the part
Re: my car is making a strange sounds and two of the...
Its not the pulleys its what they are fitted too.seek a mechanic to have a look and to make sure its just an idler pulley problem and not a alternator bearing problem

Hopefully, you didn't drive it any of those three days that it didn't have oil in it. If you did, chances are very good that you damaged the engine. You say the car is shaking - do you mean the engine is shaking when you're sitting still? Is it also making strange noises - knocks, clunks, squeaks/squeals? Then you almost certainly have damaged the engine.
Putting oil in the engine does not heal the damage that is already there. Expect that your engine is going to seize or just quit running soon.
One or more of the following may be the cause:
1. One of the cylinders is not firing properly, causing the engine to shake, which is more noticable at idle speeds. This is unlikely to be the cause though, since it would cause your Check Engine Light to come on.
2. Something ON the engine is loose or unbalanced. Lift the hood and look at the belts - particularly the pulleys that they go around. Keep you hands out of the way, but use a flashlight to shine on all the pulleys and look for any wobbles. The one that would have the biggest impact would be the one at the very bottom of the engine. Even the slightest bit of wobble can really shake the engine. A wobbly pulley could mean that it is loose, bent (unlikely), or that the bearing that makes is turn smoothly has been damaged and now allows the pulley shaft to move. This is mechanic territory.
3. An engine mount has weakened or torn loose. Your engine isn't attached to the car with solid bolts. There are special pieces of rubber in the place where it attaches, and these can erode over time - or even tear and rip if the engine is powerful. You can test for this by looking at the engine and having a friend put their foot on the brake and then shift from park to reverse to drive, and then back to reverse. If the engine rocks by more than 1-2 inches, it is possibly a damaged engine mount. Again, this is mechanic territory to get fixed.
Good luck!!!!
your shaking could be a bunch of stuff. the procedure is to verify whether you are looking at a motor shake or a transmission shake, then inspect the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, do a compression test and a vacuum test to eliminate the basics like rings and valves. If you know that all those things are good, then you plug into the computer and look at sensor readings. "my car shakes" is a very vague statement. I had a service writer once who loved to write that the vehicle makes a strange sound; then I would test drive the car and I would hear ten strange sounds; so which one am I supposed to be fixing? Is your shaking definitely coming from the motor?
When you brake you hear a strange noise. The sounds brakes may make, should be something you are familair with.
When doing 45 mph plus, the car starts to shake. Now tell me, youv'e not experienced this many times in your life!
Turning left or right could be a worn steering rack, mostly because you never change power steering fluid,or upper strut bearings or any other suspension parts starting to wear. Or, it's just you noticing different sounds, than when it was new.
When you turn the wheel too far to either side, you hear the power steering pump squealing and telling you to stop. Another bad practice.
Now I would conclude, that you need to strip all four brakes off the vehicle and completely go through some sort of brake repair or service. I hope you already figured that.
there must be a bad pulley, or something out of line, remove the belt and spin each pulley to make sure they spin freely, then shake each one to make sure they dont have a lot of play, take a good look at the waterpump pulley and ac pulley, also the tensioner starts to bend outward when it gets weak,
The moun sounds like it is probably bad. But you are addressing SHAKING. Most motors don't SHAKE. It may have a miss to it or not be running smoothly. It may need a tune up or have bad gas. Just remember this car is 12 years old and may need some simple TLC.
An alternator bearing is inside the alternatorand can only be gotten at by taking the alternator apart. You don't say which pulleys are shaking but it is quite possible that they are the cause of your noise. They have been wearing for some time and now have gotten to the stage where they are getting noisy and very near the end of their life. With the engine shut off grab the offending pulleys and try to move them up and down or sideways. If there is any movement, and don't be shy when you try, they need to be replaced before they seize up. From noisy bearing to seize up can happen very quickly so get this looked at right away. Hope this helps.
Sounds like they didn't get the balance shaft timed right. It's easy to get it together wrong. If the timing belt is right, it'll start right up, but if the balance shaft isn't syncronized as well, the thing will shake like an old washing machine! Better take it back to the shop. They lined up the balance shaft wrong, I'd bet money on it.
