I have a 1996 Acura SLX which is basically the same vehicle as the isuzu trooper. My 4wd light will not go off even in 2wd and the other night went into 4wd all on it's own. the shop said a solenoid for the 4wd needs to be replaced. does anyone know what the part number is and where this solenoid is located? I have searched high and low on the net and can't seem to find what i am looking for.

If you need to get the vehicle out of 4WD when it is stuck, often people report having to drive backward and apply the brake, drive forward, back, forward until the solenoid unsticks.

Check the rubber vaccume pipes on the front axle first as it will do this if the pull out of 4wd one leaks the pull in 4wd one wins .It defaults to 4wd in .

You got 3 solenoids and a shift motor so best narrow it down a bit - try reading on isuzu trooper owners club UK about this problem .

Speedometer does not work, chk engine light on

USA car yes/no??
2002 Isuzu trooper.
2wd or 4wd?
check engine lamp on means scan the OBD2 scan port
and it tells you of VSS sensors are bad, some car have 2.
fuses farst
scan it next./
C10 and C15 fuse must not be blown out. dash box.
marked as Meter and Audio, ignore names, 10 and 15 fuses both good.
electronic, speedo it is. and same for VSS
vss for 2wd not same as 4wd,
2wd is on rear of transmission , manual stick or autmatic
4wd is on rear of transfer case.
not telling your drivetrain makes for long answers
engine>>>trans>>>transfer case.
non of that told at all

VSS is the speed of the far rear , prop drive shaft.
it converts, RPM of said shaft to MPH, (speed) and then sends said speed directly to Speed and to the PCM and TCM if there is a TCM

the pages are 2wd pages, and 4 wd pages, which is yours?
is this your first time DIY ever. ? or first time 4wd?
guess 3, 4wd, how am I guessing....

names
Acura SLX
Chevrolet Trooper
Isuzu Bighorn
Holden Jackaroo
Holden Monterey
Honda Horizon
HSV Jackaroo
Opel Monterey
Subaru Bighorn
Vauxhall Monterey
wow......
our usa book lists it as trooper only.
so ...

just B or B then A off? if you had b off, you'd see what?, a big nut.
that is locked to spindle shaft.
ill guess? wheel bearings are bad? (just in hub not spindle bearings bad... no matter this is first.)
so you do what. ? here are the steps.

that part"B" must be off first, see the bolts holding it, ?
B = auto locking hubs. or hub axle lockers.
26005769-b5pjo3cin0lhc1b54v4xlnuy-4-0.jpg you can see the caliber must come off, so, do so and tie them up.
  1. "Place the Transfer shift in the 2H position.
  2. Raise and support the front of the vehicle safely on jackstands. (rear tires chocked, and hand brake set hard)
  3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  4. Loosen the hub to rotor retainer bolts.
  5. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts and carefully remove the caliper (along with the brake pads) from the rotor. Do not disconnect the brake line. Secure the caliper out of the way with the flexible line still connected.
  6. Remove the hub nut using hub wrench J-29020-A or equivalent. ( special tool)
  7. Remove the hub cap assembly retainer bolts. Remove the spindle nut, washers, and other components. Remove the hub/rotor, being careful not to drop the outer wheel bearings. As the hub/rotor is pulled forward, the outer wheel bearings will often fall forward.
  8. Once the hub/rotor is removed, remove the retainer bolts securing the rotor and hub together. Inspect the hub and replace if needed."
  9. end removal. install is next... (alldata.com covers this)

Why i can't disengage the 4wd of isuzu bighorn automatic

IT may be the actuator is not working or the vacuum line is disconnected or broken. You may have to remove the actuator to see if it is actually moving upon selection

91 trooper stuck in neutral

possible range selection detent switch not working causing to get stuck some times in one range only and wont shift to other range 4wd light in dash just keeps flashing for about 10 seconds then goes to previous state this then can jam up 2wd 4wd lever that you then cannot move.
there are 3 switches 2 on trans/transferr case, 1 on front LH diff axle tube actuator (shift on fly). can cause damge to the electric actuator then on transferr case.
suggest you get a dealer to look at or some one that knows this system. is also vaccum operated on front diff shift on fly unit and there were 2 different systems fitted to these vehicles push button 4wd on dash and lever next to gear lever which i take is yours
