So long as you are keeping good fuel pressure vapor should not be an issue. I would try changing your fuel filter.

I have a 2004 HD electra glide. When running cruise in hills the bike accelerates normally to hold speed climbing the hill. But doesn't allow the throttle to back off to previously set speed.

Since it works one way and not the other, check wires first. I don't work on Harley's. But I know computers. Things to think about is this a can bus data system(2 wire)? Or just the old 1 data wire per computer. This would make a difference. But your possibilities are. Wiring, the PCM, or the cruise control module. Just a note. Always check all fuses first. The PCM can have up to 4 power wires on cars. Pull the fuse and visually inspect them. This takes care of bad connections.

Why does my 98 dodge caravan have trouble climbing hills?

A transmission issue would give vibration tremendously during uphill. If you're not getting the vibration, or burning smell of transmission fluid, suspect clogged catalytic converters.

How to get Drive cycle

1. The testing has to start with the vehicle under 122 degrees F. Start the engine and idle for 2.5 minutes in Drive (auto) Neutral (MAN) A/C and rear defogger ON.

2. A/C OFF, accelerate to 55 MPH at 1/2 throttle and then 3 minutes of steady state cruise at 55 MPH.

3. Clutch engaged (MAN) no braking decelerate to 20 MPH.

4. Accelerate to 55-60 MPH at 3/4 throttle and 5 minutes of steady state cruise at 55-60 MPH.

5. Decelerate, no braking to end the drive cycle.

In some cases the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will go into a logic lock not letting the readiness monitors run. Removing the battery cables and touching the two together will normally take care of the logic lock condition.

Car slow going up hills

check the connection between the accelerator pedal and the pump as there are two different operations at work . The accelerator cable linkage may be loose and not giving full throttle where as the cruise control is getting full throttle.

Missing and backfiring during acceleration and climbing hills.

Could be vapor lock in the fuel system. Next time it does this, stop and try removing the fuel filler cap... Hope this helps...;-)

Jetta will not accelerate up inclines.

good chance you have a clogged cat converter ...with engine running have someone rev engine and see how much flow you have out tail pipe. also if you hear the sound of something rattling inside exhaust that is another tell tale sign
