On the firewall on the driver's side next to the brake master cylinder. It has a plastic fluid reservoir on top. The clutch master cylinder is the smaller of the two. Instead of trying to rebuild it yourself, buy a factory rebuilt clutch master cylinder. Bleed it as much as possible on the bench before mounting.

SOURCE: Will a 2001 and a 2002 slave cylinder and clutch

You wont have any problems changing them. I think 99 to 03 are all the same.

SOURCE: clutch master cylinder

The master cylinder is mounted directly behind the clutch pedal in the fire wall. A push and twist design. If you are intending to remove it don't forget to unplug the sensor(mounted on the rod) first.

Manual transmission. How do I check the clutch fluid?

Hi, don't know what your vehichle is but the clutch master cylinder is usually found on the bulkhead directly in front of where the driver sits. This is because the clutch pedal linkage to it needs to be as direct as possible. If you cannot find such a thing it may be that you have a cable actuated clutch?

Where is the clutch auto adjustment located at on a 98 manual Volkswagen jetta?

you most likely have a hydraulic clutch, which the clutch master cylinder is located on the firewall on the driverside close to your drivers side windsheild.it takes brake fluid to fill dot brake fluid will fill it properly. however if your slave cylinder on the transmission is leaking, this will require a replacement of the clutch slave cylinder. look for leakage under passenger side,,just under or below passenger side seat onto ground. recommend if you replace the clutch slave cylinder, you also replace clutch master cylinder located on the drivers side firewall at wind sheild.look under the car while someone pumps the clutch in and out,if you see brake fluid leaking under car onto ground or inside onto carpet at brake pedal, you have a bad clutch master cylinder. recommend you replace both slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder. this will save you lots of time and headaches. thank you for choosing fixya.com

I have a 2002 VW Jetta and the temperature gauge keeps going up and down... Is this something to worry about ?

Replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. ECT sensor is placed in the right back side of the cylinder head on 2002 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI. See picture below:

Where do I add clutch fluid to a 1995 volkswagen Jetta glx?

There are two 5 speed manual transmissions possible in your vehicle. One of them is controlled by a cable. (there is no fluid) For the other one, you would put the fluid in the clutch reservoir which would be mounted just above the clutch master cylinder in the engine compartment. The clutch master cylinder is directly in front (on the engine side of the firewall) of the clutch pedal.

NOTE: If you are having to add fluid to a hydraulic clutch, you have a leak in the system that needs to be fixed. You should never have to add fluid to the clutch reservoir.

Location of clutch reservoir

The clutch and brake master cylinder share a reservoir. Look below the base of the windshield - the "wall" there is the firewall. You should see a large round piece about 10" in diameter with a metal fixture coming forward off of it. On top of that is a reservoir - that is the clutch and brake reservoir.
