2000 Elantra- wipers were frozen with ice. Switch turned on and something "broke". Wipers no longer work. How do I fix the problem?

Pop the hood, the wiper motor should be on the firewall, take it off and start from there. it seems like the arm snapped (or fell off hopefully), easy fix.
next time just flip the wipers up when its icy, if you can remember to

Hyundai started using plastic washers to hold down wiper arms. This is to prevent damage to the wiper transmission in cases where the wipers are either frozen to the windshield or trying to push too much snow/ice. To remove the wiper arm, you will need to locate the washer and remove it first. Chances are the washer will be the only part you need to replace.

Turn on key & wipers--try to move wiper arms--not real hard--may break something--sometimes wipers will start moving.Next--have motor tested--then check for fuse, fusible link, or circuit breaker--depends on make of car. If fuse--replace--if other take to qualified mechanic.

2000 Nissan Xterra - working wiper motor disconnected from wipers

not sure about your vehicle but I have found on most vehicles there are two arm located on the wiper motor there is usually a link clip holding them in place it may have popped off under pressure or broke hopefully that is all is the cheapest solution if arms did not get damaged...I hope this is helpul

Instructions aligning wipers on a 1998 Gran Prix GT

Loosen the nut on top then realign them then tighten the nut. I have to do mine every time they get frozen.

Wipers on 2000 elantra won't work.

yes you can simple problem to fix there are rodes that connect the two wipers together with a rocker arm it has com loose from the moter there are screws under the hood holding a panel closet to your winshild and there are screws in the panel out side the hood you will need to remove the windshild wipers to remove this panel once it is off you will see what i'm telling you
