Under the floor board of the driver's side about where your left foot would rest.
The fuel filter is located in the engine compartment on the driver's side. If you're looking straight down into the engine compartment from the top of where the front shock strut is anchored with it's 3 retaining nuts, you'll see attached to side with 2 nuts the fuel filter can with a preshaped hose line running up to the fuel injector rail. The fuel filter line comes equipped with a fuel pressure test port.

I have a 96 SL2 (252k auto) myself, my fuel filter is on the down slope drivers side front fender well.
Trying to find the same filter that matches the one currently on my car! When I Google them only WIX shows the exact one! But, puralator has the one with shrader valve ( fuel port) on the side of the fuel line coming from the top connector!
My concern of course fitment! Is this just a difference in the manufacturer? Will the lines be the same length? This will be the first time I'm changing the fuel filter since I've owned it! 6yrs.
I have encountered a "SPUTTERING" when I acclerate. I had a code check done at a local Advanced auto. it told me that I needed to replace the crank shaft sensor so i did. and it is still sputtering and the check engine light is now comming on when I shift??. could it be Ignition wire's? I thought maybe the fuel pump was trying to tell me something but, Once the sputtering stops it delivers fuel fine? go figure. this only happens during acceleration. can a proffesional help a frustrated saturn owner on this? it has been a good little car. and for 173,000 miles it still peppy. a 2002 malibu found that one out!! SMOKED Him.

The Saturn Fuel pump relay and fuse is located undar the panes on the passenger side of the center console near the passengers left foot there are two relays there that look identical one is fuel pump relay. Just switch them around they are bot the same and see if the fuel pump runs now also the fuel pump fuse is in there i can't send diaagrams on fixya because their program will not let them go through if you need one email me at [email protected] Please give me a fixya rating if this information is helpful to you

engine coolant temp. sensor is cracked pull it out it is on the side of the head.. easy fix you will see its cracked when you pull it 15 dollar fix

Remove gas cap and relieve fuel system pressure from fuel rail pressure relieve valve.Then you will want a drain pan of course. Before you can remove the fuel line, you will have to buy the cheap plastic quick-connect fuel line removal tool that fits your car. Or buy a universal pack for like $5. Then you press the plastic tool inside the fitting and pull on the other side and it disconnects instantly. then grab the new filter and the lines will just click right back in.
