Try a different key. if not probably a ignition lock cylinder. his is a pass lock security system. these have alot of problems with the two little wires that read the resistance from the pallet on the key code. Take off the steering wheel and visually check for damage two those wires they are white wires with orange coating.

99 chev S10 4.3.Will start right up then immediately die.If I do this 20 times, same thing.Starts right away and just as fast die.

Check your security system. My info says you have passlock security system. Is there a security lamp that stays on when you try to start it? There is a relearn procedure, don't know if you have tried it? There could be other issues? Any applicable trouble codes?

Chevy Malibu LS (V6-3.1 L) won't start or starts up and IMMEDIATELY dies, how can I diagnose the problem?

Your car starts and dies due to the failing antitheft system. Your vehicle is not receiving the "fuel enable" signal that it needs to keep running. So the injectors get turned to off to prevent theft. You will need to diagnose which part of the antitheft system is failing. Or bypass the entire security system. This link will help you understand the problem, and depending on the year of your vehicle, possibly a good bypass solution.

1999 grand am 'security light' stays blinking - cant start car

1. Attempt to start the car, let it stall, but DO NOT turn the key off! Leave it in RUN.
2. Wait 10 minutes or until the Theft System light glows steady instead of blinking.
3. Do not turn the key off, but start it immediately.
4. This should reset your Passlock system.

The other issue is that the BCM harness is known to corrode and will cause the passlock to fail and will lead to a no start. Check the BCM under the glove box, the bcm had somehow get's wet and the terminals corrode. Sand down all the corrosion that you could and put the bcm back into place and the car should started up fine and worked normally if done right. ONLY DO THIS IF YOUR SECURITY LIGHT STAYS SOLID AND DOES NOT RESET FROM THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS.

Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted.

My security light is on and my car dies right after it starts tried relearn code and it id not work

to reset passlock system, Turn the engine two seconds then leave the key in the run position for exactly ten minutes...the anti-theft security light should go from blinking to solid at the ten minute mark. Immediatly run the engine and the Passlock is reset. Good Luck!!

My 2001 chevy malibu ls v6cranks,starts up but right after, right after dies like somethings shutting it down. radio was locked from me disconnecting my battery without disconnecting the anti theft system....

Is the Security light flashing??? If so, the security system (passlock II) is ******** off the fuel because the car thinks it is being stolen. If the security light is flashing, leave the key in the "on" position for about 10 minutes and it will stop flashing. Then turn the car off and try to start like you normally would.

My 1998 Chev Cavalier Theft System light stays on

If the car starts and dies right away you may have a pass key sensor fault.
Try to start the car,if the car dies right away just leave the key on and watch the security light in the insturment panel,if it begins to blink leave the key on until it stops blinking (apx 10 mins.) this will reprogram the pass lock to the pcm and may solve all your problems.if the car continues to die after running a min or so then you may have other faults,or if the car dies right after start the pass lock sensor may need to be replaced.

Sounds like your Passlock security system went into the tamper mode. If your dashboard security light blinks when the ignition is turned on, your Passlock security system is disabling the injector module, preventing the car from start. Try this:
1- turn the ignition on and just touch the starter, without getting the motor to fire, then leave the ignition in the "on" position. The security light will blink for about 10 minutes. When the light stops blinking, turn the ignition off and leave off for 3 minutes.
2-repeat the step #1, 3 or 4 times. You will know that is fixed when you turn the ignition on and the security light does not blink, then the car will start. Make sure to stay inside the car when you're doing this, as opening the doors will trip the security tamper mode on again. Once the tamper mode is off, the car starts and opening the doors will not trip the Passlock tamper mode.
