Your latch is probably broken. your going to have to take the interior panel off the hatchback and look for any broken connection. if there is a broken connection, it should only be like twenty bucks to fix

My 2006 sonata trunk will not open-rear seats assume are disabled unable to fold down, and the trunk key has been inoperable for several yrs-anyway that I can access the trunk

Pry/pull one seat down and open the trunk with the yellow pull handle at the trunk lid. Re-bend the seat framing after trunk is open and after the latch system is repaired.

97 toyota camry trunk latch is stuck not allowing to open trunk how would i get the trunk open? Cant go through the back due to having a speaker system and speaker box is in the way.

I have the same problem. I've found that if you push down on the trunk lid very firmly eventually the latch settles in and will open with the pull lever next to the drivers seat. I usually pull up and push down to mimic the closing motion in a firm manner and after a few tries this allows me to open it up. Consequently, I've begun to close the trunk lid with some force, slam it if you will, and this seems to prevent this from happening. I've lubed the latch with no success either. Just a Band Aid solution, not an actual fix.

1997 Jeep cherokee back door latch....was difficult to open requiring multiple tugs, and now won't open at all.

The latch on the gate holds and locks itself on a peg on the floor panel. These are adjustable and after time can move causing the problems you have now.

You may have to get in the boot / trunk and remove the inner panel to access the lock internally to open but try this first:

Pull up latch handle and keep holding it up until open, shoulder firmly the backdoor as if you are trying to close it hard, it should click, then pull open.

Trunk will not open with button

There should be a yellow lever inside the trunk near the back seat that you can pull. You will need to lower the back of the back seat, and stick your head in there and look up. Pull the yellow emergency lever and the trunk should open. It is mandatory to have one in case a child accidently locks themselves in the trunk. Once you get the trunk open, make sure the valet switch near the trunk latch didn't inadvertently get depressed. It should be either on the decklid on the latch or in the trunk itself below or next to the latch reciever. it should be a slide type switch that you can lift up or press down. Also make sure the trunk lock out button inside the glove box didn't accidently get pressed. Hope this helps
