When you say it loses power, do you mean electrical power or engine power ? You would need to look at the fuse boxes for a loss of electrical power, and use a scanner or code reader to check the computer for trouble codes for a loss of engine power.
The actual engine assembly will fit but you need to determine if there were any changes made between the two years in the computer or wiring harness. Also make sure that both engines have the exact same transmissions as sometimes the bellhousing patterns are different. I'm pretty sure yours is a direct replacement though, providing both engines are the same displacement..Most scrapyards have an interchange manual that may help you. (they have to know these things...it's their business)
