How do you remove the third brake light from the back window for replacement? (CHEVY says I have to take it to a dealer.) I cannot figure out how to get to the bulb to replace it. I do not want to damage anything....can I pry off the rubber/plastic plugs that seem to be covering the access bolts to the light assembly? IF YES, how do I pry the plugs off? Is a special tool needed?

If you do not know what you are doing you should go to a mechanic. A simple slip with a screw driver can cost a lot of money.

just have a philip screw driver, remove the screw, pull out the light and take the light to the nearst aurozone and they will give you the right light, and put it back the same way.

Open the full hatch.
Pull down the weather strip near the rear dome light.
There should be a wire with a connector in it. Disconnect it
Close the full hatch.
Open just the window hatch. There is 1 screw on either side of the bulb housing.

Should just have to unbolt the 3 or 4 bolts holding it in the spindle. No special tools are required. You should be able to get to them with a wrench if you have to. Plus you do have to undo the nut holding the axle in.
