OBD error PO410 (Secondary Air Injection System

I am getting PO410 errors but the pump definitely runs on cold start up. I have checked the vacuum on the check valves and this leads me to believe one is bad as there is almost no vacuum when it is connected to the system. I think there may be a bad diaphram. WHERE can these valves be purchased? none of my local auto parts suppliers have them. 2000 Olds Intrigue. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

SOURCE: po410 secondary air injection system malfunction

Two of the more common problems with Auroras.
P0442 - There is a small solenoid (about $30.00) mounted near the L.R. wheel that will fix this.
P0410 - Usually due to leaking Air Injection Valves. These are about 2" square, one near the passenger side firewall, the other near the drivers side radiator. They cost about $200.00/ea. most people just leave it go as it does not effect performance.

What is code PO410 secondary air injection

P0410 code is set when the air injection system does not blow air into the exhaust system. The monitor that runs and test the system is the Oxygen sensors. With the truck cold follow the air supply hoses to the exhaust check valves. The air pump is located by the heater box under the hood on top of fender well. The exhaust check valves are screwed onto the injection pipes that are connected to the exhaust manifold. remove these and test blowing into them air should only pass one direction (hose side to threaded side only) this is the most common failure. Pump should run on a cold engine and can be heard with hood open if not operating check fuses and relay okay then use jumper wires to test motor is should operate does not replace.

Code po410

P0410 - Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction
Possible causes- Faulty Vacuum hoses damaged
- Faulty Air Pump inoperative
- Air bypass solenoid harness is open or shorted
- Air bypass solenoid circuit poor electrical connection
- Air bypass solenoid leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed
- Air diverter valve leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed

This is likely a pump problem caused by water being sucked into the secondary air injection pump under the hood.

I have the following codes po410 and po491.......can u please tell me what they are so I can get my car fixed asap

P0410 - SECONDARY AIR INJECTION (AIR) SYSTEM
P0491 - SECONDARY AIR INJECTION (AIR) SYSTEM INSUFFICIENT FLOW (BANK 1)

Secondary air injection (trademarked as Air Injection Reactor) is a process where fresh air is injected into the exhaust system to allow for a fuller combustion of exhaust gasses.

The possible causes are:
SAIR pump low or now air flow
SAIR bypass solenoid leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed
SAIR diverter valve leaking/blocked or stuck open/closed
SAIR air hose restriction
SAIR vacuum hose restriction or leaking

Check to make sure your air filter isn't dirty - and replace if needed. Otherwise I would suggest having your local trusted auto repair facility diagnose and repair the issue. A scan tool will be needed to properly diagnose the issue.

I have a 05 chevy trailblazer, the check engine lite is on and a hand held analyzer indicated problem codes: PO410 $ PO128 any ideas? Wayne C

P0410

Definition
Secondary Air Injection System fault
Explanation
The air injection system is monitored for faults
Probable Causes
1) Circuit relay defective or fuse open
2) Check connector and wiring
3) AIR pump defective or hoses blocked

P0128
Fault Code Definition
  • Engine temperature has not increased and/or reached the correct level within a specified amount of time after engine startup
Common Problems That Trigger the P0128 Code
As for the po128 I would replace the thermostat first. That is the problem 99% of the time.

Good Luck

Obd code of p0411 on a 1999 ford mustang 3.8 v-6 what do I check to correct

That's s failure of the secondary air pump. It'll have to be changed. It's an emissions component meant to help with cold start emissions. It won't cause engine running trouble but at inspection time you'll fail for smog. Change it before then and you'll be fine.

I have an engine management light come on - tested - came up with a code PO410 - what is the next step?

P0410 is the error code for Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction
The secondary air injection pump pumps air into the exhaust to help heat the catalytic converter at cold start. This lowers the emissions at an otherwise high emission time.
A malfunction means that computer has registered either a pump failure (common on some models), fuse blown, or improper catalytic converter function.
Check your fuses. Whether you find a bad fuse or not have the codes reset. Some auto Zones can read and reset the codes. If the error comes back you may want to consider having the exhaust system checked.Problems with the catalytic converter\converters can have a large impact on your MPG.

1998 328i.. Got a 1421 and 1423 code...not sure where to start...

1997 BMW 328I 2.8L Customer Concern: MIL is on with trouble codes P1421 and P1423, for incorrect secondary airflow on both cylinder banks. Tests/Procedures: 1. Perform a functional test of the Air Injection Reaction (AIR) system. Tee a vacuum gauge into the vacuum hose attached to the diverter valve, located on the cylinder head towards the front of the engine.

2. Allow the vehicle to sit over night. Start the engine (cold) while monitoring the amount of vacuum on the gauge at startup. At temperatures from -10 to 40 degrees Celsius, there should be at least 17 inches of vacuum. At the same time, the AIR pump should run and pump a large volume of air into the exhaust. Potential Causes: A.I.R. Pump
Air Pump Relay
Restricted Cylinder Head
Diverter Valve
Tech Tips: These codes are related to a problem detected in the Secondary Air Injection system. Scan tools with BMW software include a feature to command the AIR pump on and off. The pattern failures for these codes are the AIR pumps due to leaks in the diverter valve and moisture or condensation in the AIR pump.

Possible fix but not all items. Just areas to look at:
Confirmed Fix - A.I.R. Pump - A.I.R. Diverter - A.I.R. Pump, Air Injection Reaction Diverter (AIRD) Valve - Air Injection Reaction Diverter (AIRD) Valve - Check Valve, Secondary Air Pump - Diverter Valve Vacuum Lines

I have a 2004 buick rainier and i,m getting a code po410

P0410 Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction
I am very familiar with this failure code, you are going to have to replace the secondary air injection pump, it has a failed motor in it, the code really indicates no airflow from the pump when commanded to be on.
