The door light and interior lights are staying on because one of your door switches needs to be replaced. The vehicle is sensing that a door is ajar and that will keep your interior lights on. This should not necessarily set the check engine light off however. I would believe that there is another issue setting off the check engine light. If there is a parts store in your area ask them if they can scan your vehicles check engine light, and if there is a charge. They will be able to retrieve a code that will explain the problem of your check engine light being on

2003 ford explorer driver side door opens and closes by itself and interior lights stay on while driving

The opening and closing by itself is either the door being out of alignment or the Door pin being worn and in need of replacement. As far as the interior lights staying on, look for the brightness control for the dashboard lights. If that is turned all the way to the brightest setting there is a position just past that which turns the interior lights on continuous. Make sure it is not in that position. If it is not in that position and the lights are staying on with all doors closed, to include the rears, and you have checked the switch on the dome light itself to make sure it isn't set to ON, then the problem is a switch in one of the door jams being grounded or a wire was tapped into the power circuit for the dome light that has grounded. This happens when the LoJack installer or Alarm installer makes the mistake of tapping the light circuit for power.

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am and the interior stay on

Interior Lights Circuit Description
By using a feature called inadvertent power control, the body control module (BCM) supplies power to all of the following components:
• The courtesy lamps
• The dome lamps
• The rear view mirror reading lamps
• The instrument panel compartment lamp
• The rear compartment lamp
The left front door ajar switch turns the interior lamps on through the BCM by grounding CKT 394. When the left front door is open, the switch is closed. This condition provides a ground and a door open input to the BCM. The BCM then grounds the following lamps through CKT 156 in order to turn the lamps on:
• The courtesy lamps
• The dome lamp
• The rearview mirror lamps
The right front door ajar switch and the rear door ajar switches turn the interior lamps on by grounding CKT 395 from the BCM.
When the ignition key is removed from the lock cylinder, the interior lamps remain on for approximately 40 seconds.
The BCM provides an interior lamps-on delay after a door is opened. The lamps remain on for approximately 40 seconds or until the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. The 40 second lamps-on delay reduces to 4 seconds if a door is opened within 2 minutes of the ignition switch being moved from the ON position. The interior lamps immediately turn off when the vehicle begins to move.
The dome lamp OFF-DOOR-ON switch controls the dome lamp. When the switch is in the OFF position, the dome lamp remains off. When the switch is in the DOOR position, the dome lamp lights when a door is opened by the BCM grounding CKT 156. When the switch is in the ON position, ground is supplied through CKT 750. The rear view mirror reading lamps are controlled by the rear view mirror reading lamps switch or through CKT 156 from the BCM.
Voltage is supplied at all times to the BCM through the INT LPS fuse. The BCM supplies voltage to the interior lamps through CKT 1732.

Battery Run Down Protection
When the ignition switch is in the OFF position, the BCM turns off the power to all of the interior lamps after 18-22 minutes.
The BCM will reset the inadvertent power control relay output when one of the following actions is performed:
• Open or close a door.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Turn off any interior lamps that may be on.
• Press the power door lock switch/keyfob button.
• Press the decklid release keyfob button.

Inside door lights stay on after engine is turned off

Check all doors for a sticking door open sense switch. Check all over-riding interior light activation switches are off. If all the above are ok, check for a sticking interior light relay.

Interior Lights

I'm not sure where the fuse is, but I'm pretty certain your door sensor is the source of the problem. In between the hinges on all your doors is a button that gets pressed and depressed when the doors open and close, this controls your courtesy lights, make sure none of them are broken, seized up etc.
