The Alarm keeps going off on my car, I think it is the immoboliser? I have taken it to a Kia garage and they said they'd fixed it but the engine light is on permenantly now. I have also changed the batteries in the key fob as a last resort. Any ideas?? (my car is a Kia Shuma 2001 engine 1594)

the alarm is set right behind the headlight switch within the dash. Pull out the light switch and unplug it. The tricky part here is u most probably have to get ur arm way up inthe from under the steering column. To know with box is the alarm, u can actually hear and feel it clicking. Its roughly the same size as a deck of cards. Once u remove it, cut the 2 big red wires and connect them together. U must connect them in order to bypass the alarm. Good luck.

It is probably the remote. If you need to, to de-activate the alarm get in the car with all doors shut and turn the key to the on position and leave it for a couple of minutes, then the car will start. I haven't ever had to replace the etacs module for that complaint.

if the lights flash when you hit the panic button but the horn does not beep, then the alarm horn is bad. Vehicle has a second horn just for the alarm
SOURCE: alarm went off and key fob quit working
start the car. if that dose not work remove ground form battery then after it stops put ground back on that will reset the alarm.
Testimonial: "started the car, shut it off and the alarm quit. But now none of the features work on my key fob."

This car is'nt made for the American market, But that's Ok as the answer is the same for all Kias. Pulling fuses will not deactivate the alarm. The ECM key learning uses the dealers interface and can't be adressed by a mechanic or a disableing meathod Event the dealer can't disable the alarm system as it's inheient to the onbroard engine contol system and it disables the car this allowes the manufacturer to claim an insureance discount.
