If you suspect the alternator, disconnect the 12V line coming directly from the battery and check for current drain. Are you sure the current unit is in ampere (A) and not milliampere (mA)? A 5A current will drain your battery in about an hour. A 5mA current is just about normal considering the parasitic load (radio memory chip, clock, ECM memory circuit, etc.). Try checking your battery. It could be the real culprit.
OKmheres what i did and it worked- 1-take battery out and charge fully 2-Put battery back in car but put positive battery cable on first-dont tighten up yet 3-put negative battery cable on battery dont tighten yet 4-wait 2-minutes 5-take positive cable end off,ho;d in hand 5-take negative cable end off battery ,hold this in other hand 6-now hold both cable end together for 30-seconds -now put battery cable back on battery-make sure you put Positive cable back on First, then negative cable next-tighten both up-Now go see if dash lights are on-then it should start!! if not, repeat cable procedure

this is a common problem for these cars glow plugs go bad like spark plugs however the smoke would lead to bad mass airflow meter. it is not telling ecu corrcet miss. disconnect mass airflow meter. when cold see if this makes it start better. it should would means you need new m.a.f. glow plug issue take a test light place clamp on positive of battery then pull off glow plug connectors place tip of test light on glow plug the bad one will have a dull light unlike the good one which will be brighter. will need new plugs and wire harness four **** connectors and wire striper and crimper will fix concern good luck
Unless you have a check engine light on or other electrical warning for the transmission chances are the transmission is failing and needs an overhaul.
