Depends on where the leak is and how bad it is. If the leak is severe and it is somewhere other than the pan gasket you will need to seek professional help. If it is a very slight leak then you can just continue to drive and check the level regularly and keep it full. This may be the way to go with a very tiny leak. If the pan is leaking try tightening the bolts to 20 lb/ft of torque. If that does not stop the leak then you need to remove the pan and replace the gasket. That is a good time to change the filter and the fluid. If it is leaking at the shaft seals front or rear then the only permanent fix is to remove the transmission and replace the seals. This is a 15 year old car and is more than likely high mileage. If you do not want to spend the money for new seals if that is where it is leaking, you can try this. A minor leak at the seals or the torque converter can be stopped by adding some sort of Stop Leak. A torque converter leak will show up as fluid leaking from the bell housing. Talk to your dealer or a trusted auto parts store and ask for a product that is compatible with your transmission. Gunk makes a good product and so does Bars. Place a piece of cardboard under the car to determine where the leak is and how severe it is.

Depends on where it's leaking from and how long your planning on keeping the car? The touque converter to the pump seal leak is a big job and if it's leaking there there is likly other trans problems lurking for the person that starts into this repair and may cause the whole trans to have to be rebuilt just to get it working again. The pan gasket seldom leakes unless it's been off for service and the tech doing the work skipped a few steps putting it back. The axel seals aren't too bad to do but the axel is partway out or something or reinstalled by a less than careful mechanic. The cooling lines to the reditor are a common leak install new hoses that are for transmission fluild and even get the dealer part as they fit good and don't leak and are easier to instal than straight hose. Changinging the fluild at the service intervals and not overdriving the car these trans seldom leak as almost all the problems I've ever fournd are caused by bad mechanic work and not wear and tear except the cooling hoses.

Will a oil seal leak cause transmission to slip

If you are referring to a leaking transmission seal, your answer is yes...,Transmission fluid not only keeps the parts inside lubricated, but actually is a working component of the transmission. If it's leaking, keep it full and have the leak fixed asap or you will burn out the unit.

Manual Transmission Filter?

The Borg Warner T-5 manual transmission has no filter. Assuming the leak is not really the rear main seal of the engine leaking, which is more likely, then it leaking from the front of the transmission. You will need to drop the transmission to get to the front seal on the first motion shaft. Unless you are really mechanically inclined or have a friend who is, leave it to a good shop.

I've brought in my car because I believe it is having transmission problems and I have a warranty. They have told me there is a code for the electronic pressure control system inside the transmission....

very likely the vacuum leak controls a portion of the transmission and therefore is causing ur problem. Let them fix the vacuum leak first...then if the tranny problem is still present, deal with that next. Not uncommon to have a shop say "this must be fixed first". Sometimes concerns are related.
