2003 Chevy Blazer Rear Window Support

I recently bought a 2003 chevy blazer. It has the two piece rear hatch, with the window that folds up and the tailgate that folds down. The window didn't have the supports to hold it up, so I bought them from the local hardware store. The bottom attaches with a ball into a joint on the piston, but the top has a open circle that looks like a bolt and nut hold it together, however when i asked the guy at the store what held it in place, he said he had no idea and couldn't help me. Could anyone please tell me what it is I need to hold them in, and where to find them? Thank you.

I got the piston supports from the auto part store, and they guy didn't know what to use to connect it to my window. the bottom just snaps onto a a post with a ball, the top that connects to my window has two round holes about a quarter inch apart where the eye of the post fits in between. However, when I bought the car it didn't have any supports so i'm missing the part to connect it to the window. it looks like just a nut and bolt would work, but I want to make sure that that would be sufficient. Thanks again.

What you need to do is go to a automotive part store and they will look them up per your vehicle. They should both just snap in on both ends.Good luck.

I didn`t realize the part on the window was missing. Here is what you can do.Go to the dealership and tell them what you have and what your looking for. They will show you a picture and can order the part for you,or if you want you can go to a salvage yard and get them from a used vehicle now that you know what it looks like.Good luck.

Rear hatch wont open 2003 chevy blazer 4x4

I too had an issue with my rear hatch. My father in law cut a huge hole in the plastic only to find out there is a manual operation hole behind one of the carpeted panels in the hatch. You simply move the latch with pliers.

Rear hatch window will not release

This is a common problem on the blazer. If you can hear the rod actuator working, then the actuator rod to latch rod connector has broken. It's plastic, and a poor GM design.
To get the rear hatch open you will need to manualy release it. It can be done by working as much of the plastic tailgate trim you can get loose, from around the top center of the gate, where the latch is. remove the 2 screws that hold the handle on and remove handle. Then pry as much as you need to access the c type latch, and release it by moving it... it's spring loaded and will only move one way. Haveing someone help you lift the hatch while you unlatch it from inside the vehicle helps. After you get the hatch up and the tailgate folded down, make sure the latch is locked in the open position.
The actuator can be repaired, i've done it several times. GM will try and sell you a new one, which is rather costly compared to the $8.00 piece of plastic you need.
Good luck and i hope this helps.
