If you have a multimeter, set it on x10 ohm scale. read resistance between engine and body, then negative terminal of battery to body. should be zero ohms. if not connect a ground strap from engine to body (make sure metal is clean at connection points) then one from negative of battery terminal to body. check again with meter should be zero ohms.

Temp gauge/Tach gauge question

Make sure your battery is charged fully and the terminals are very clean. Get a free stress test at a parts store. If you have a charger, connect it up and see if that solves the problem. Voltage levels that might allow the car to start and run fine may be low enough to cause electronics problems with radios, gauges and locking mechanisms.

Speedo and tach peg out when your driving down the hiway and the gas gauge goes to E. then it all returns to normal. I like my 2000 windstar if it was fixed. any ideas?

i did a little research and couldnt find much. it is possible that your gauges have some huge problems and that is prob the most likely. i would suggest taking the car to your dealer to have it repaired/replaced. very odd problem. more info would be awesome. what speed? only while accelerating? ect...

2005 pontiac sunfire

I have the same problem.. i installed a toggle switch for the fuse so at least I can reset it while driving.. its still a pain so Im thinking my next step will be to drill a hole through the plastic and put in a small metal post to stop the tach from going past 7

has anyone taken theirs into a shop?
