Lately I have gone into my truck and on 3 different occasions I put the key in the ignition and go for a usual start.. all the lights come on and radio etc but nothing happens the truck doesn't even try to turn over, I try to in neutral and same thing..I checked the battery and its perfectly fine. I let it sit for awhile and come back to try and start it and it does perfectly :S
Anyone had the same problem or any ideas on what it could be relay starter ignition...
I have seen many ign switchs. Check to see if the theft doesn't flash when you try to start. It is still posable that the starter is going. Have someone crank the engine. Check for power on the purple wire. If there is power and the it does not crank. Check that the big wire has a soild 12 volts. You can use a screw driver and jump the purple and the big 12v battery at the starter and it should turn on if not replace the starter
I have a 2005 Sierra 5.3 with the won't start problem. Put the key in and turn and no crank. The dash lights and all accessories work fine.
I have towed truck to the dealer three times. Twice the problem corrected itself
over time waiting for the tech to look at the truck.
Third time they disconnected the starter power leads clean them up and
reconnected the starter. Presto the truck started.
This time I waited two days before I called the dealer as the truck would not
start. Same condition as before. Put the key in turn it over no crank but all
light and systems work as they should.
Dealer said try this...............put your key into the on position and leave it there for at least 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes are up turn the key to the start position and the truck should start.
I did all this and the truck did not start. I tried several more times and no crank occured.
I was about to get out of the truck when I recalled that several posts said that you should trying starting your truck in netural when researching this problem
So I shift the truck into netural, turned the key to start the truck and thats what it did START. I truned the truck of after it ran for 10 minutes to charge the battery and it started again.
My dealer thinks this problem is something to do with the security package that comes with the truck.

I have found that when you are going to engauge 4x4 high, it is best to only be going about 3 miles an hour. Not faster, not stopped. It likes some movement to help it mesh. I've had perfect shifts since I started this. Hope it helps. Wade.

Check to make sure you don't have the TOW/HAUL switch on the end of the tranny stalk turned on

Typically the Neutral Safety Switches are located with the gear selector, either in the column or the floor.
Hope this helps,
