If its the piston thats sticking you can purchase a kit for it but your probably better off buying the caliper. If the caliper is sticking and not sliding back and forth you need to buy a brake hardware kit for it. From my experience the brake hose usally collapses on the inside and causes it to stick you might want to check this out.

You replace it. then bleed the system since you have to open the brake line.

do not use a kit. Its a messy job and sometimes doesnt work for long.

Just replace the caliper. They run between 20 and 40 bucks. Call your local auto parts store. They have them in stock.

Also inspect the brake pads. If low you may want to buy pads for the front also.

Also if you have any brake vibration in the steering wheel you may want to have the rotors turned strait again.

I know it sounds like a alot but since you have the caliper off the rotor and pads are off also. Now that you have to learn this side doing the other side will be easy and now the front brakes are good for another few years.

The slides are called pistons. Make sure the pistons are free of burrs or nicks. Also, verify that the pistons are square in the caliper housing, not angled when they travel in and out.

I have a dodge ram 250 van 1987, front brakes are locking up by themselves , not touching the pedal,, when moving until the van stops completely ,, not able to move because front wheel are locked or when...

Most often that condition is caused by the rubber hoses that connect the caliper to the "hard" brake lines at the chassis. The hose may appear good but internally it collapses and prevents pressure from releasing. After correcting the problem be sure to replace the front pads as likely they are burned. If the pedal pulsates replace the front rotors as well, or, if they are still in relatively good shape, have them re-surfaced.

I have 1987 dodge ram b250 van and i just changed the brakes, rotors, and calipers on the front but when i tried to bleed the air out of the lines i got nothing but the brake fluid resevoir is full of fluid....

Try connecting plastic tubing to drivers side bleeder valve. Place end of tube into a half full can of brake fluid. Press the brake repeatedly with the engine running so your power braking system is working. Watch the tubing until all bubbles have been pushed through the tubing. Repeat for the passenger side. The plastic tubing needs to be submerged in the fluid in the can to keep it from letting air back into the system through the bleeder valve.

How much does a brake repair kit for a 87 dodge mini ram van cost

My personal opinion is you don't want to rebuild a caliper. Most times now calipers are replaced as a unit (you can replace just one side without a problem) as the labor and time to work on a caliper is offset by the price of a new or rebuilt unit from a parts store. I don't have the pricing for your particular vehicle, but a phone call to an auto parts store can get you a price and availability instantly. I'm not sure if most auto supply stores would even stock the pistons and seals needed for the rebuild job.

Nothing other than Caliper piston retractor or large "c" clamp to push the caliper piston back into the caliper body.

Left from brake caliper sticks at times wheel gets real hot

You brake HOSE may have deteriorated, and is not allowing fluidto drain out of the caliper piston. I found out after a piston, caliper, two disks. The wheel would LOCK UP it got so bad.
