I have a problem when cold starting the engine of my Nissan Cefiro Model 2000. When starting, the engine makes ringing noise like the timing is not correct or it does not get enough fuel. After finally starting, the engine runs ok. When restarting again there is no problem anymore.

Do you have any warning lights on the dashboard? This sounds like the vehicle has gone into 'Limp' mode. This is where the vehicle has gone into a Safe setting because the electronics has detected a fault listed as 'Serious'. I would suggest you get it plugged into a diagnostic system or an OBD2 scanner to check for trouble codes. Ask for prices at 4 or 5 garages as costs can be VERY different.

What do you mean by "smoking up and everything."? Was the engine still running at the time? If so, the engine has not seized. Is it making any strange noises? If it's just smoking a lot, but still running and not making any strange noises, you probably just have a leak and and alarmist friend.
Hello! Is the engine an RB or a VE30DE? The code is stamped on the block...From my experience the 1994 Cefiro only came with a straight 6 rather than a V-6...Can you specifically identify the engine? Also does it have two timing chains; An upper and a lower? Thanks .....Guru...Saailer
This is the 'Check Engine' warning light. This normally comes on when there are sensors (usually the engine knock sensor) that are faulty or indicate some type of engine trouble.
Have this diagnosed by a qualified technician immediately.
if you get a haynes repair manual and follow it step by step everything should go fine. or clintons. if you have questions about what its telling you to do then that would be a good thing to ask. the problem is there are alot of different designs for engines and it could be affected and it could not be. but if your not sure you definitly need a repair manual. it would tell you everything but it will guide you in the right direction
