Replaced alternator now its blowing the battery fuse not sure why
I assume the 'new' alternator is a rebuilt unit and these are normally as good as new but they can be defective right out of the box.
I don't know if your voltage regulator is integrated into the alternator or separate.
If it is the latter, it may still be bad. They aren't expensive to replace if they are not in the body of the alternator.
If replacing this didn't cure the problem, continue on below.
The 'battery fuse' doesn't really have a lot to do with protecting the battery since these must accept lots (40-50) amps briefly when charging and 100-200 amps to turn over the engine to start it.
I think that fuse is universally between the battery and the control terminal of the alternator and supplies a varying amount of current to the rotor of the unit.
The variation is dependent on the charge state of the battery and the loads from various users in the car.
If the rotor of the rebuilt unit has a short in it, much higher current can flow than is normal and I think this may be what is blowing the fuse.
If you have someone who can check the alternator in the car, I would have it checked.
