I would try changing the fluid and filter again. Sounds to me like there is a lot of crud built up in it and another change would probably do the trick. It probably wouldn't hurt to add a bottle of Lucas Trans Fluid at the same time. It will help extend the life of your transmission. Black fluid would likely be clutch material that wears off over time.
If this doesn't work you are likely in the market for another trans. Hope this helps.

It could be your bands slipping causing the oil to get a burnt black colour. I would suggest changing the oil again and getting the bands adjusted. The slipping of the bands could explain poor shifting. If the bands are worn from slipping, you may need expert support. Rgs Michael

Very hard shift from 1st to second, only appears when it is hot outside and engine has been running for a while. Any ideas?

Have you ever had the transmission filter changed and transmission flushed, That is usually the problem. If you did have this done already i would try running some lucas transmission fluid in it. You can find lucas at wal-mart.

The transmission is shifting hard going from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd on my 1998 GMC sierra 1500 4x4 5.7 liter. This does not happen until about 15 to 20 minutes of driving. Before that the...

rec check fluid first. If trans fluid hasn't been changed in last 30,000 miles change fluid, filter and pan gasket. At that time inspect for foreign materials in bottom of pan or on magnet if you have one. If truck has over 100K and fluid was never changed you may have more problems if changing the fluid.

Really they might be right after having a look but did anyone else from them drive the car?

The transmission might have gone bad but only manifest when engine runs hot.

Why not have a diagnosis scan on the car.

You might have a look at http://www.troublecodes.net/OBD2/

Good luck.

1994 jimmy transmission makes grinding noise when pulling out

Hello;
I woould look at the differentials and see if the gears are ok. You could have a bearing going out in one or both differentials. Most likely case is the rear diff. Also check the u joints for wear. Hope this helps.
Thanks;
