I have a code p1294 on a 2003 sebring which they say is "TARGET IDLE NOT REACHED" what is this and how do i fix it?

P1294 verbiage is simply "Target Idle Not Reached (+/-200 RPM)" which unfortunately is one of the DTC's that is least helpful. The most likely cause of this is a simple vacuum leak, very possible a leaking gasket at the base of the throttle body. What happens is unmetered air enters the engine confusing the PCM, forcing the IAC to chase the idle speed up and down. The first thing you should do is look under the hood and verify that all of the vacuum hoses are connected and in good shape, the brake booster isn't leaking and finally get a can of carb cleaner and go hunting for a leak. If you haven't done this before I recommend letting someone who is comfortable with the procedure do it for you or show you how.

The code is "target idle not reached". This indicates that the idle is too fast and this is what sets the code. The cause could be the TPS or the IAC, but normally if these were the problem, you would have additional codes to indicate them.. The P1294 without any other code is most likely going to be caused by an intake leak, one that occurs after the MAF sensor if your car has one, or the throttle body if not.

Hi Bobby, The fault code 1294 is reporting exactly what you have noticed, ie; the 'target idle speed has not been reached' I suggest that you inspect all vacuum tubes and pipes for cracks, loose fitting and breakage. If all are fine have the intake manifold and gasket checked. Regards John

1996 dodge caravan 2.4 code p1294
on dodge motors
fitted a lot of parts and still no better

the fault code clears and comes back as a intermittent problem

could be electrical voltage drop off or heat related failure

i wonder if your 02 sensor ,the catalytic converter
or other related sensors
are causing the fault to come back
if needed .....fit a new air filter...

When Monitored: With the engine idling and the transmission in drive, if automatic.
There must not be a MAP sensor trouble code or a Throttle Position Sensor trouble code.
Set Condition: The engine idle is not within 200 rpm above or 100 rpm below the target
idle for 40 seconds. One trip fault.

The codes are 33 25 5and don't know what they are can you help
33 is a/c clutch curcuit, 25 is idle air control motor curcuits, target idle not reached (+/- 200),vacuum leak found
A code of "55" represents end of error codes. If this is all you get then no error codes are stored in the computer. This is the normal condition. sorry there is no code 5, have a good day !!

I am getting fault codes 34, 53 & 25 on a '93 dodge dakota 3.9L magnum...could you tell me what problems these codes specifically refer to so that I can fix the problems?

Target Idle Not Reached (Chrysler, Jeep)i am getting a dash display code of p1294. how do i find the problem? I did find a vacuum line broke and fixed but the error came back!
The code P1294 means that the computer is setting a target for the engine to idle at and the engine cannot do it therefore setting the DTC. Solution start by checking or replacing the sparkplugs. Also remove the idler motor from the throttle body and spray it out with carb cleaner. Also spray out the passages in the throttle body that the idle motor use. If that does not fix it you could have another problem like a bad idle motor or something relating to that circuit. Did you replace the TB or make an adjustment to the TPS?

The p 1294 code came up on my 2003 jeep wrangler rubicon. How do i fix this problem.
it is either the iac or a vaccum leak p1294 means engine target idle not reached.

2002 sebring lx will not idle
Change out the other plugs, it may be difficult but they are meant to be reached. It just requires trickery.Be sure to check codes on the computer and consider changing the wires too.
