No forward movement in OD or D, but L2, L1 and R work: Forward sprag is broken. R&R. Try not to run or drive the car or further damage could result.

No movement in any gear: pump failure, or total loss of fluid. R&R, or refill pan and find the leak. If out of fluid, avoid running the engine until the trans is refilled to avoid pump damage. To check for pump failure, check fluid level with the engine off, then start the engine and recheck fluid level. If level does not go down when engine is running, the pump is broken.

Fluid leak out of the front of trans where the converter connects; partial or full loss of movement: Front pump bushing walked out. R&R. May have to replace converter also if hub is scored. Note that a leaking front seal usually means the bushing is walking out (i.e. call your local trans shop and schedule an appt.).

Soft shifting, gradual performance degradation: Poor line pressure rise due to leaking boost valve, clogged EPC filter screen, failing EPC solenoid, or worst case: leaky seals throughout. Transgo HD2-C kit fixes first two without removing trans. Seal restorer may fix last problem, but probably R&R. Also try a transmission flush with BG brand products (Firestone stocks it).

Good luck and keep me posted, just not sure what you mean by stopped pulling.

1996 lexus es 300. The transmission just stops pulling while driving down the road.

the fluid must never be over filled as most do.
if was that caused foam up of the ATF and bearings are destroyed.
  • hot engine
  • hood up.
  • in park at normal idle speed, running.
  • dipstick reads L >>>x<<<<H
the x must never be above or at high. hi is for when it over heats
the users guide tells what to do , do not guess. or BOOM

what you are doing is 100%wrong ,full stop .(adding ATF blind)
assumes adding blind, or wrongly.
yes lots of things possible
there are like 10 on cars tests.
all good shops know what to do.
not pulling means RPM cream high like neutral for Drive.
or stuck a lower gear. as in not upshifting
scan the TCM for errors is next.

if losing quart of ATF per day the car must not be driven
or wreck the box you will, or far far worse. make the core useless.
rebuilt tranny needs good core.
do if you feel tranny clutch packs slip do not make them slip more or they burn up.
stops pulling means what, false neutral or fails to up shift
a bad shift solenoid can that.

Why does the car stall in my 1996 s10 chevy blazer while running?

A car stalls when the engine receives a sudden massive increase in load (think when you were learning to drive - releasing the clutch too quickly would cause the car to stall by transferring too much friction too quickly from the gearbox to the engine)
If the car only stalls when you are setting out from stationary then better engine/clutch control control is needed, or there is a problem with fuel or clutch. If it is an old car, try putting more choke on when pulling away.
If the car stalls all the time, the general reason is that there is probably either a fuel or an ignition problem causing the engine to cut out. Of course, there could be any number of things wrong with your car if it stalls during normal driving

Do I pull trans with engine to do engine change out

well pulling motor and tranny would make it easier in respect to fighting with the tranny bolts but in order to get the tranny and motor out one shot you need a good 2 to 3 feet clearness of the ground and will need to take the radiator and support out to get it out.

tranny bolts aren't that bad except for the top one and if the tranny mount is removed and the tranny hanging down you can get at it with a long extension.

i do it that way because i have a lift and air tools. not sure what you have and what your capable of but it will depend on you situation what is the best way!

if i was doing it on the ground i may take it all out one shot!

good luck man. please ask any more question you have
