No chances are it probably won't you will have to take the rear differential cover off and get the numbers off of the ring gear divide the small number into the big number and it'll tell you what ratio the ring gear and pinion are
well my manual dont even say that. does your fog lamps work? probably climb under trk and check at actuator for power with test light. I hate this trk only because of this problem, it is never ending, the three basic problems are 1. the damn truck wont idle 2. the damn 4x4 wont work or engage
3. the damn alignment wont keep Just replaced motor in mine due to camshaft tensioner failure and if i have one more issue with this trk i will take it to the ford headquarters and on their front lawn i will destroy this truck just to make a statement. they sold alot of these but what a piece of **** !!
does this trk have the push type or dial selector switch, or is it a manual floor shift like my 90 gmc? If its elec i would look for a fuse source first then i would go down below and check for power on the selector selonoid actuator then i would check for power at switch selectors, maybe they are just sticky or stuck from not being used. the light works off the lower switch sensors not the dash switches so untill it engages the ligh will not light. get them to engage first the worry about light if needed. And ALWAYS put trk 4x4 on through out the summer season on a dirt road or a grassy field just so they keep working. I even run my air cond once a month in winter so it keeps fresh and working, and knock on wood i never have had problems
My Wrangler had the same problem, it ended up being a vaccum leak on the front axle shift motor. It is located in the middle of the front passemger side axle tube.
I have a 1996 tahoe that did the same thing to me.
There is no vacuum lines, it is all electric. The motor on the front differental is controled by the actuator switch on the top of the trans case. The motor is controled by 3 wires. 1 is a ground and the other 2 are signal wires. When the truck is in 2wd, the motor will get 12volts to ground on 1 wire all the time to turn the motor out. When you put it in 4wd, the motor will get 12 volts to ground on both signal wire to turn the motor in.
Here is the point!! Check to make sure that none of those wires from the t-case switch to the motor are shorting out on something metal. In my case those wires came out of the wire loom(black tube) and rubed the insulation off. shorting on the t-case.
If your truck ever gets stuck in 4wd, were you have to keep it in 4wd or the front end makes a hell of a noise, the actuator switch on the t-case is none to go out. cheap fix. If that ever happens and you are in a pinch. Unscrew the motor out of the front end and manualy give the motor the signals that it needs with jumper wires and the trucks battery to turn the motor out, screw the motor back in. Don't put the wires back on till you can fix it right.
