On a 2005 Jeep Liberty, the passenger headlight went dim. I replaced the bulb but no improvement. I switched the bulb with the driver side, and still no improvement. No the passenger light is out. The driver side is normal and bright. I turn on the bright lights and both lights come on, however they are extremely dim on both sides. I checked all the fuses and replaced one of the switches. No improvement.

I did test with a 12 volt tester (simple light) and there were no current going through. I'll follow the ground wires down to clean the connection.

It was a loose connection with the ground wire. Followed the ground wire to where it connects and cleaned the connection area, then reconnected the wire. All lights are bright and working as expected.

There is a ground wire for both sides. follow the wire from the connector to body and clean, Test the 12 volt wire to make sure it has 12 volts. If not bad switch or bad wire or contact in the connector. Wiggle the connector first with the lights on to see if it changes.

  • Anonymous Nov 24, 2009

sorry worded that wrong. you should have 12v at one wire with lowbeams on. You should have 12 volts at the other wire with the highbeams on. The ground wire should have 0 ohms from the connector to body. One way to test a wire to see if its broken or poor connection without removing anything is to touch the end of the wire with a meter and knowing that the other end is suppose to be bolted to the body you can touch medal anywhere, If get 0 then thats a perfect connection. If you get numbers then it is a dirty connection and if you get no reaction you have no connection.

How do I fix problem with my right side low beam headlight on 2007 jeep Liberty

Check the wiring on that light. Also check the bulb with a couple of wires to the battery, or swap the bulb left to right to make sure the new bulb is okay.

CHANGED HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ON 2002 JEEP LIBERTY ONLY HIGH BEAM LIGHT COME ON

Try flicking the mulit-function switch high beam on and off. There has been known problems with this switch, but mostly the first place to start is with some new light bulbs.
Or possibly your low beam filaments are burnt out. You have to replace the bulbs. Each bulb has a lowbeam and a high beam filament.

On dim all four headlights are on, but the inner

first i would want to know that all the headlamps are in good working order. it kind of sounds like these are also bad bulbs. you will also need to look for good ground wires just behind the headlamp assemblies. to answere your question, YES. if things were not repaired properly and without attention to detail then you could have wiring issues. on the plus side it doesnt sound too difficult. try these items first.

2005 Jeep Liberty Sport. While the car is running, I notice the dashboard and headlights dim every minute or so for a few seconds. Also, the car doesn't start as smoothly as it normally does. This started...

I have an 2002 Liberty had the same/similiar problems, have the dealer check the wire harness that runs underneath the driver's seat, my wires had gotten wet from somehow and it caused the wires to corrode, they had to replace sections of the wire harness to fix the problem.
