Question about 1999 Buick Century

Stalls when warm , no start when warm

I have a 1999 Buick Century with a 3300 engine. Starts great when cold. Will stall out after it gets warm and wont restart when warm

What you need to do is when it stalls out then check to see if your loosing fuel or spark.Check for spark at the spark plugs.don`t just check one.Check all the front 3 a least.If no spark then you probably have a bad ignition module.It is under the coils.Good luck.

My 1988 buick century stall,s after driving. engine warm,s up.won,t start right after stalling.start,s after sitting 10 or 15 minutes
Possibly an ignition module or crank sensor problem. These are the two most common stalling electronics that will cause a stall when they get warm/hot and will then continue to operate once cooled down

1988 Buick Century 3.8 stalling issue starts back up. fuel pump/filter replaced it stalls out randomly at all driving conditions. I am stumped on this one. anyone have help for me on this?
Does it seem to do it more once it runs for a bit? It could be a bad DIS module. They are known to fail once they get hot. Either that or the ignition switch located at the top of the base of the column.

Why does my service engine soon light come on when the car is working properly but not when it doesn't?
The light is in test mode when you start, so you can check the bulb is working. The light has nothing to do with whether you stall it only estimates whether you need a service based on time, number of starts (and probably some other parameters - perhaps someone else knows what they are).

Try first to replace the fuel filter. Then if that don't work, have the sensors checked by an auto technician with a diagnostic tool that interfaces with the cars computer. Most places will do this for free.

Is the check engine light on ?
It sounds like the engine temp sensor is not right, but if that were true you should have a check engine light and a code for the sensor.
Have you checked fuel pressure ?

sounds like the crank angle sensor. my 1993 buick was doing the same thing. hope this helps.

Need to check for fault codes. Possibly a faulty sensor causing the fuel system to run rich or lean.

a very common issue on these is the crankshaft position sensor, it is sensitive to heat when it goes bad, had the issue on my own Buick.
