Sounds like it is in limp home mode ! In my experience (twice on a1999 Grand voyager) it is a speed sensor failure only!

I have a 1999 plymouth voyager 3.3 liter v6 with automatic 4 speed tranny.when i put it in gear it acts up for a second and shuts off. i hooked it up to a actron obd and the codes are P0700 trans cntr syst...

sounds like a problem in the PCM. a more sophisticated diagnostic computer is needed to test the system out, most repair shops should have these. i would get multiple estimates from different garages and one from a dodge dealer.

Chrysler voyage automatic transmission issue

The geabox fluid needs changing, if the gear changes seem jerky changing up and down, the gearbox needs to be refurbished.

Voyager transmission problem

Sounds like you need a solenoid pack to start, and possibly a service. If the tranny is not slipping, the solenoid pack is stuck and not tell it to shift up. Could possibly be a TCM, but not as likely.

1998 Chrysler Grand Voyager Automatic gear box slipping

If the fluid is full , it sounds like the trans pump is loosing prime. If it is there will be a code set. The code will not always turn on the light. Go have the codes checked. If it does have a loss of prime code in the trans computor and the fluid is full then you will need the trans pump replaced
