We are looking at buying a 2008 pontiac g6 sedan. When we test drove it today--we heard a clunk/pop noise upon acceleration. does anyone know what it could be?

you shut the engine off, and when you do, that it coasts to a stop
and did the noise come from the engine bay? and did the noise happen as engine was coasting to its natural stall or after that?
noises that happen, not moving are easy to find. so
get a competent mech, to find it. it be easy for them.
Sounds like it is time to replace the battery in the remote. If you look around the seem there will be a spot to insert a small screwdriver and twist to pop it open. Sometimes they use really small screws to hold it together. The screws will be obvious when looking at the backside.
I also bought a used 2006 RAV4 Sport (in 2008) and I am really happy with it. What you need to look for is for a clunk, pop or knock type noise when you are turning the steering wheel left of right. I noticed it when I test drove it. There is a service bulletin ST001-08 not a Recall. The dealer would have fixed it under the 36000 warranty but I don't know if it will be fixed after that. The 2006 RAV4 has no recall problems for the accelerator.
2007 Pontiac G6 retractable top engine swithed off while raising, top continued to close in compartment right side upper forward pad looking thing popped and the compartment would not close, however the top will raise and go back in place, cannot leave top in compartment since the trunk lid will not close over the stored top..........
Sounds like your KEY has lost its secuirty mem(Key has and anti theit deturant ) curit Try you spare key turn the car over let it run for a couple of minut and then shut it off .Quickly put in the old key and try to turn the car over ,Had a comapanIe ambulance that i work for do the same thing and this trick work let me know if it worked!
