Well, not necessarily need a professional if you have some basic maintenance experience.

If you look at the engine compartment from the front of the car, the switch is located at right side, very close to the radiator, close to the bottom of the car. You will see the shifting cable as well as an electronic connector on it. You can try if you shift, the cable will rotate the arm on the switch.

According to my experience, it's not easy for the switch to go bad, it may just need some alignment so the switch angle is zeroed in wrt the contact points. There is a line on the switch for alignment purpose.

To replace it is not difficult at all, once you located it, you will see. You can get a used one at junk yard, I believe it will be much much cheaper.

Oil leaking from toyota camry 1992, 1994 model

You don't say what engine it has. The 4-cyl was a better than the V6 for oil leaks.

The V6 had oil leaks from

-rear bank cam cover gasket

-distributor o-ring seal

-oil filter bracket o-ring seal

-crankshaft nose oil seal (less common)

-rear main bearing oil seal (expensive, just leave it)

The 4 cyl leaked oil from

-distributor o-ring seal

-camshaft cover gasket

-rear main bearing seal (expensive, leave it)

My car only starts when i cross wire the neutral safety switch. i recently changed out the ignition and it ran for about 3 weeks now nothing! wont turn over at all not even a click (unnless i cross wire...

if your starting the car,by only jumping a wire at the neutral switch, then you more than likely have a bad neutral safety switch that needs to be replaced.

What are the schematics for wirinig an ignition for a 1991 300e mercedes benz? I am not sure what wire goes where when wiring my ignition

  1. The following fuses can cause the car not to start. Check and Replace fuses B, 5 and 6 and 7.
  2. Check the power to the neutral safety switch. When the ignition switch is activated there is no power to the neutral safety switch. Power to the neutral safety switch comes from the ignition switch on the violet wire. If there is no power at the violet wire when the key turns to start, the ignition switch is probably bad or there is a problem with the wiring to the switch.
